Come review Rainbow Dragon by artist Mikey Bergman! This canvas was purchased from Dreamer designs in December of 2023! I started this canvas 1/28/24 and finished on 3/7/24. This canvas measures 60 x 90 cm! This was Massive and filled with AB drills! The artwork is stunning and the rendering is so beautiful!! Let's hear my thoughts on the pros and cons of Dreamer designs square drill canvas!

    Wow that is stunning! ❤
  • Thanks for the pro/con list. I would LOVE to do this canvas, but I haven't done a canvas with squares yet and I think the problems you outlined would frustrate me. I may try one of their kits with round diamonds. I'm close to finishing my current project, so I'm looking for my next one. Thanks for the detailed video!
  • If you gently blow into the drill bag before pouring out the drills it really cuts down on the static. Sometimes I do it 2 times- the humidity from your breath really helps.
  • New subbie. Identical experience. Bought 2 like you did. Am planning on destashing the second kit because life is too short to be miserable while diamond painting. My painting experience has been utterly frustrating. Btw I emailed them about an unrelated issue and they were 100% unhelpful. Blew me right off. TBH I don’t know how they stay in business. We only have so much money to spend on paintings-why would we give it to them? And when I say ‘give it to’ I mean ‘waste it on.’ Thank you for your honesty. I was even thinking about starting a YouTube channel just so I could bash them in a post review 😂But decided they aren’t worth that either. Bravo on the great video and on completing this kit! 🎉

Hi Tessa! New subbie here! I have had the exact same issues as you with square canvases from Dreamer Designs. I got so discouraged that I set one of mine aside for a while. Its so disappointing that the drills are too small or the drill field needs to be tighter with their squares. I certainly commend you for finishing! Apparently, Dreamer Designs knows about this but folks are complaining that they aren’t doing anything to fix it. Don’t know. However, your dragon is amazing! The colors are fabulous and the sparkle 💖!! Maybe that pattern in the lower right corner is a magical sigil! Thank you so much for your super thorough review! I look forward to more videos! Donna. 💜🐶💎🖼️💖
  • Gorgeous work! Thank you so much for this review! I've had my eye on this art piece but never tried Dreamer Designs and had heard some not great things. I really appreciated your pros and cons and really great to see a finished DD piece!

Thank you for sharing! So excited to see this kit finished! It's in my stash and near the top of my list on kits to complete ASAP. I am currently working on my first Dreamer Designs kit, one called Unicorn Forest and I've had many of the same issues and experiences you had. It has 74 colors and took 5-6 hours to kit up. The static was terrible. I've been feeling a bit of burn out on this one but not too bad. I knew the artwork would have a lot of confetti but I think overall they did a good job of including an equal amount of color blocking to confetti. There has been a fair bit of trash but so far it's comparable to the last DAC kit I worked on in terms of trash drills. The Resin of Dreamer Designs drills also doesn't seem as high quality as DAC's but they're still absolutely gorgeous drills. DAC's resin often has a more glassy look on the matte ones while DD's is more plastic-y. DD's drills don't scratch easily if my metal placer slides off of them or something the way DAC drills do so that was a point in their favor. But I definitely agree these don't fit together the way DAC squares do. DAC squares are like diamond painting with legos. These aren't bad compared to kits I've done off of Amazon and such, but they aren't as satisfying. The worst thing about the kit has been the gapping. As you mentioned in your video, it really feels like the drill field was printed just a bit larger than it needs to be. Try as I may, I still get gaps between rows on occasion and I haven't really found an effective way to correct it. I know the drills need space so they don't push each other off the canvas but it's pretty substantial and I'm hoping it doesn't hurt the final product too badly. The second worst thing for me has been the reuse of symbols. I have one in the Unicorn Forest kit I'm currently working on... I think it's J or S. It's a letter used twice. Which wouldn't be so terrible but they used it twice on very similar colors. The only way to tell which I'm meant to use is the color of the square around the symbol and one is dark gray and the other is dark gray with a slightly greenish hue to it. If they're going to reuse symbols they should reuse them on completely different colors so there's no way to confuse them. All that out of the way though, the kit is stunning so far. I'm around 1/3 to 1/4 done with it and it uses so many ABs. Normally square drills just have a subtle shimmer but the inclusion of so many ABs lights up the entire kit and since it's a unicorn image, it makes the artwork magical as well as beautiful. I definitely appreciate their generous use of ABs as compared to DAC which typically skimps on them, at least in the kits I've worked on so far. I've adored all of the colors and the way they render the images has just been so perfect.
