I'm a 22 year old girl with an extremely rare form of ovarian cancer - germ cell tumor, immature teratoma, grade 3, stage 1A. I'm an anomaly, but am yet another womxn that was in pain and normalized it. I am sharing my story to help other womxn gain the courage to get the doctors to listen. We should not have to live in pain.

Catherine i to had ovarian cancer i was 24 i an 67 now i have been cancer free ever scents
  • "Are you sure you want to know?" Truly horrendous bedside manner. And when you were asking about the imaging and what it showed, there WAS a doctor there who could have told you. And to be diagnosed with a cyst like that over the phone and not make the ultrasound a priority shows how apathetic doctors have become lately. You are such a bright, well spoken young lady and I wish you the very best. The world of social work needs more people like you.

I had a malignant teratoma at the age of 22 also. I had chemotherapy and surgery and now I’m 56 with two grown children. Best of luck to you. You got this❤️
  • So many doctors treat women complaining of pain as if they're weak, or faking it, or seeking medicine. Thank you for for telling us not to settle when they dismiss our pain and tell us that it's nothing!

  • You're so inspirational girl! I was diagnosed with melanoma this summer and I was feeling exactly the same as you, shocked that it happened to me. It's so surreal. You're amazing!

I can't believe they messed you around so much before you got an answer. I'm praying for you. You are on your way to recovery! ❤️ I know it ❤️
  • Wow! That is a miracle how everything lined up perfectly for you! Thank you for telling us your story. My prayers are with you!
  • Thank you for educating us on this. I’m a Mom of a grown daughter and my heart goes out to you and your poor mom. I know she must have worried fiercely over you. You are smart and will stay on top of this. Good luck sweetheart.

I can't imagine going through all of that during a pandemic. I was just talking to my own family not too long ago about how lucky I was going through my own experience with a rare ovarian cancer when I did and with the team I had. I was fifteen when I was first diagnosed with my own ovarian cancer. I do think that with the right mindset you can make it through it. It's a surreal feeling where it doesn't feel like your life, but is, and there will eventually be days where you almost don't think about it (save for the scars). Keep advocating for yourself. I've had so many doctors over the years who have disregarded my "feelings" on something, even after I had gone through cancer treatments multiple times...The fight gets old, but if you build a strong team to work with you it gets easier. I will keep you in my thoughts as your go through your journey.

Thank you so much for sharing such a personal story. I find that there aren't a lot of these sort of intimate videos online that inform about this disease from people who have personally gone through it. Most of the videos i look up are extremely old/vague symptoms etc, and i appreciate you for shedding light on this. I pray that God heals you physically, mentally and spiritually and emotionally. <3

Thank you for sharing your story. As a cancer patient in remission I must say that my cancer has changed my attitude towards life for the better and although I wish I never had to go through it, in many ways my current life is more meaningful because of it. I wish you all the best!
  • Your mom sounds like an angel! There is nothing like having your momma who just makes everything better the minute you hear her voice. Your story is so touching that it made me cry, but I am so relieved that you are okay. Thank you for sharing. Praying for you to have a future full of many blessed years. God is so good!

Thank you for sharing your story ❤ My grandmother died at age 30 from ovarian cancer. This was after she had 4 children. I love hearing real story's and symptoms just in case I end up inheriting it. Hope you are doing well and pray it doesn't come back.
