“The liberalised economy which came after the Soviet Union has now been reversed into a sort of Soviet era 'Putinomics'”

Vladimir Putin’s ‘unsustainable burn rate’ of resources and soldiers are forcing Russia to use ammunition and weaponry from the Soviet period, says Maj Gen Chip Chapman.

Wow...no ridiculous repeat of half of the interview at the beginning. Much better. 😊

Les pays qui ont acheté des armes aux russes, savent ce qui les attendent en cas de conflit avec un autre pays qui est équipé d'armes occidentales 😉🇨🇵
  • This isn’t news. They’ve been saying this for at least a year.

I wish. but if feels like we heard this now for 1 year+

Out of stuff? I've been waiting for years now for the Russians to use their first line gear. Hmmm... Maybe they never had any.....
  • We still trying to prolong this war, what happened to the peace talks??

I have great respect for major general Chapman. I would like to make an observation in addition to what he made. I would also like to 0:17 give an opinion based on the fact that I'm an American and I participate in politics on the Democratic side here in the USA. Point number one, I believe that when the ukrainians receive enough f-16s they will do something bold. I am reminded of Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle flying, Mitchell B25 bombers off of a aircraft carrier to strike Tokyo. This was cathartic. Galvanized the resolve of the American people. It meant victory was defined as unconditional surrender. I think the ukrainians will mount a bold and possibly reckless attack against the Russians using those f-16s. I believe they'll give Putin a bloody nose. Hopefully that will hasten his demise from the political scene. My other point is that Putin, in my opinion has a great deal of compromising evidence against Trump. I believe Putin has all the control he would ever need in order to direct Trump and Trump's responses. By every saying definition of the word it is well known it was done on television, Trump is a traitor and the Republicans are a fifth column for Putin. Thank you.
  • Majority of Russian weaponary has always been from the soviet era, they got some modern weapons due to RnD but only in small numbers. Most of which they developed for deterance of which they wont use on the front anyway.
  • How do we know if Putin isn’t just printing money to pay these exorbitant sign up bonuses?
  • Nice one Chip - this idea that Russia, because of its size, can just go on forever, is simply clearly not true. What happens in the States is not guaranteed - and that goes irrespective of who wins the election so Putain can't rely on that. So while that could also be said of Ukraine, the States is not the only country which Ukraine enjoys support from. In my humble opinion, far from us Brits losing interest, it appears our national wish to see Ukraine win has only increased.... In short, the Russians are on a hiding to nothing. I've been saying this for a minimum of a year now rhat what we are witnessing is the slow, implosion of Russia...

I have it on good authority Putin is reverting to medieval sword and shield soldiers. I also hear he is destabilising Britain by getting my neighbours to play loud reggae music late at night.
  • @Mugdorna
Technically, the F16 is also a "Soviet era" weapon.

Stop reposting the same interviews under different titles!!!

I don't think Russia will be able to pull off a liquor store heist after this war. At least not in three days time.

The BBC in 2022: Russia is out of missiles and tanks. The BBC in 2024: Russia is out of missiles and tanks. And yet...Russia has been advancing since Jan 2023.
