I remember my friend telling me about one in a Zelda game where you had to open treasure chest on the ds and he closed the ds in frustration only to find closing and opening the console was the solution. Like a literal chest

My friends and I did figure out Psycho Mantis by our selves, but it was sheer accident. We also played Tekken together, so we had the other controller plugged in and someone picked up the wrong one. Suddenly it was "why can't I read your mind!?", but it wasn't until getting stuck again on the next play-through that we worked out what had happened. Mind blown.

My wife (a non-gamer) tried Spyro and got so stuck in Tree Tops. She reluctantly asked for help and I one-shot the routes, looking like a hero in the process. She hasn't picked up the game since.
