Grounded: How to Turn Off the Haze -    • Grounded: How to TURN OFF the HAZE

The Hot and Hazy update introduced the first world changing event in Grounded. With the addition of gum to the game we can now turn off the Haze, which creates positive and negative effects in the backyard.

In this video I'll give you all the reasons why you should and should not turn off the Haze so you can decide what to do.

Grounded Gameplay of the new Grounded Update by Mediocre Milton but not with Sir Sim-Alot or JADECRAFT, there's also no Blitz Grounded or Jade PG, oh and no ImCade or Fynnpire either, Obsidian Entertainment made the Grounded New Update!

  • WARNING: Be careful turning off the haze if your main base is near the Oak tree!!! First time back to my base after turning it off and there directly outside the Oak lab was an Infected Wolf Spider, my first time seeing one. Writing this with the game paused…. Help
  • An Infected wolf spider will also occasionally spawn under the oak tree. Was coming back to base after shutting off the haze. Previously I had built palisade gates and stem walls to mess with their spawn rates and make the tree safer. This time around I run inside carelessly and get jump scared by an enemy I didn’t even know existed at the time. 10/10 would shit self again

Lore wise this is pretty insane. This infection is an inevitable fate of the garden since the canister will only have so much in it.
  • @beankid4ever
Guys remember this is old so now you have to plug the haze to fight the infected broodmother
  • @markgatty
i do hope a future update allows us to "cure" the infected areas. as of now im not going to touch it unless an update requires me to do so.
  • I think logically, Wendell was right to "contain all of this" by blowing that hole in the canister, functionally that fungus seems similar to a cordycepts and just hijacks and eats whatever it gets its hooks into and, with the weed-killer off, its now running rampant with no solution.
  • After they introduced infected wolf spider, which has broken day and night cycle, and has its spawn in many critical areas, including old oak spider nest and new ItW area, i made up my mind to start a new game with infected area untouched. Not to mention they tend to add more and more infected insects with every update. I really dont want to see infected ants or even bees or mosquitos in my game after one of the future updates.

I've think turning off the haze also spawns an infected wolf spider under the big oak tree where the normal ones usually spawn.

I actually kinda like the haze because it makes me feel like I'm in the Sierra Madre, or the glowing sea where everything is trying to kill me
  • @TheHeroDied
Unless they make it so that you have to I wont turn it off. I actually find it cool to have a hazy section even if it's annoying to use and repair gas masks
  • @Moron14
A fun tip if your exploring the haze you can press p and go into photo mode where in the settings for it you can turn off the fog and go into flight so you can freely see the areas around you
  • @Wacko2002
I have seen an infected weevil near the hedge, it ran up to a normal weevil and exploded, killing both of them. Was very entertaining
  • @SuitorASMR
This mechanic sounds alot like turning the game into hardmode in Terraria im sure they will come up with a verry lucrative reason for the player to turn it off in the future
  • @MrEScience
Once you are loaded with tier 3 gear turn it off! Having the stronger enemies that spawn all over makes the game much more fun and you can get more resources from those infected bugs that start popping up.
  • @TheBlakamon15
I just put survey flags where the mint and quartzite is at and call it a day. I keep that weedkiller on. Rather deal with the infected when ready instead of randomly seeing them in other areas.
  • @nomaam9077
I think the gum should come out of the bottle automatically, maybe after three in-game days. Or you should be able to remove it yourself after a while.
  • Yeah i wouldn't turn it off i rather not have to deal with infected all over the place. Here are my reasons why. 1. compared to the rest of the map the infected area of the map isn't that large and you can still easily get to the sandbox and the trash heap relatively easy. 2. Gas masks are super cheap and easy to make and repair so I don't mind having to wear one while exploring. 3. The fact that the spores can spread to the oak tree and under the grill are a problem cause it just makes it harder to go see burgl and get char coals plus I built a multi story base in the stone structure in the pond( forget the name) and i don't need them being right outside there. 4. With the shed update coming up I cant imagine how bad the spread could do in the fields there and possibly infected new kinds of bugs. plus right now I use those fields to get grass for my base and I don't need it to be challenging in the future 5. If they ever update it so that if you turn it off, bugs near the strange spores can get randomly infected, that could be really bad like for example imagine a infected wolf spider and the damage that thing could do. 6. Finally if there are infected ladybugs at the oak tree, people may lose their bases that are build on that popular rock near the pond. I did some testing and sometimes a infected lady bug has wondered over there. My final thoughts are just keep the haze on. sure you have to wear a gas mask but tbh there are plenty of spots to get crow feathers and the only reason to go into the haze is to get the burgl chip and get spores for bombs and then the milk molars. I've had no problems of keeping it on and getting to the sandbox isn't that hard. But this is my personal opinion and reasoning.

I was always shootng an arrow to a wolf in order to pull it out of its cave, and this always worked. When I shot that infected wolf spider, it literally got lost. And if there is somethng more terrifying than seeing a spider in its cave, it's definitely not seeing it in it's cave.. it slips around and comes from behind. still gives me goose bumps.
  • @theguru143
My thoughts are that they will currently roam, and the locations you're seeing of the infected mushrooms won't spread more. I think they are planning to create a way we can cure it and they won't allow it to do more until we have that opportunity to stop it
  • I made base mid map that "abyss" must be where most the crow feathers land when it's hanging out on the laser that's nice to know. The fact the infection will spread if turning off the haze is an awesome mechanic
