  • The second story makes me wonder if, on another timeline, there's a Reddit, and some hotel receptionist has posted about some weird college kids who came to their hotel wanting to do a paranormal investigation, then mysteriously vanished as they stood in the parking lot with their gear.
  • I’m diabetic. The night after my grandpa passed, I had a low sugar in my sleep. It was really unusual but I woke up in the middle of the night and I could smell his distinct cologne. When I checked my sugar, it was dangerously low. I believe my grandpa saved me that night.

Hey, actual person with MPD here. - Its not called MPD anymore. They changed the name to DID (Dissociative identity Disorder) many years ago -our physical body doesn't change but things like mannerisms, the way we speak, dominant hand, etc. do change. - Split is a terrible representation of DID. alters are more likely to be abused than to abuse someone. Let alone literally eat people like in the movie. Bet u everything I have that anyone who has DID hates that movie. -My dog does notice my switches but simply because I zone out and it freaks him out when we're playing and I suddenly go blank. -some systems have sudden switches but most of us can tell when a switch is coming. I would simply excuse myself if I were around ppl who didn't know about my system instead of outing myself to a bunch of strangers. (System = a group of alters) Just wanted to clear up these misconceptions bcus DID is highly misunderstood because of the spread of misinformation and it directly impacts those with the disorder. I've had ppl literally fear me and my alters because of stereotypes. Thanks for coming 2 my Ted talk.
  • The hotel one was scary because it was not just one person who you could say had a hallucination, it was a group of people who walked through a building that wasn’t even open

In the second story when the receptionist mentioned the scheduling mix up, that's what really sent me. Like oh sorry dude, we weren't expecting you for another 10 years. Also I would be fascinated to know if the hotel now looks like what they saw. Like maybe it was a look into the future rather than the past? Doesn't fit with a theory of residual energies or anything but it would be trippy as hell

The second story sends absolute chills through me! Also, the battery drained from every piece of equipment except the van makes sense. An entity would have to need a TON of energy to pull off an illusion not only that detailed, but for three people to witness it at the same time! ~~~~~ After listening to OP’s deduction about what happened, it’s very possible (and would make more sense) that the three of them stumbled into an alternate timeline.

lauren’s face during every story is absolutely sending me… she looks so nervous and scared
  • @karlathebarla
Love Lauren, but we gotta get an episode going with the REAL SPOOKY stories that you felt Lauren couldn't handle
  • @jojijonass
Morgan grinning while Alejandra and Lauren scream at the ghost photo is unreasonably hilarious

My little brother died suddenly 3 years ago. I remember a dream i had where he was like in a blue room. I remember it was like distinctly clouds blue coz i was like why the hell is this room so blue. Lol. He hugged me and said you’ll be okay sister. And he was walking away with a bunch of people his age. I tried to run out to him but i woke up crying. I think that was a goodbye honestly. It was nice. I still think about that dream sometimes when i miss him and believe he’ll be alright.

I’ve had a cat who passed away come back and say good bye. She went missing for a few weeks and my parents live with bears and coyotes around. One night I felt her hop up on the bed when I was trying to sleep. I heard her purring as she got closer then it got super quiet and her paws were gone.

As for the experience Stephen King had at The Stanley- him and his wife stayed there one night, in room 217. They were the only guests in the entire hotel that night. He had a nightmare about his son, woke up, and by the time he finished his cigarette, he had mapped out the book. It’s inspired by his stay, and other guest accounts there. But it was filmed in England and Oregon. All the paranormal happenings started being reported after the gas explosion in 1911.

an effect of oxygen deprivation that often goes unknown is that it can mimic the same dreamstate hallucinations that you get when falling asleep, or just waking up. Ever been laying in bed with a partner, about to fall asleep, totally convinced you're having a full on conversation, and then they actually say something and you realised you had dreamt it? That's the same kind of dreaming while awake that low oxygen can trigger! Helps the atmosphere in the Stanley I bet!
  • My dead dog shows up in my dreams every time I've made a big life decision, if it's the right one. Almost like a "you've got this"-sign.

When my brother was stillborn. a couple night after my mom returned from the hospital she told me she had a dream of her grandma holding him and rocking a chair. her grandma raised her.
  • 51:55: I just wanna add my two cents as a psychology student and researchers about multi personality disorder, now known as dissociative identity disorder or DID. There is a lot of stigma and misunderstanding around, well, most disorders, and this one is no different. It is a childhood trauma response that hinders development of a single formed identity. There is nothing scary about it. I can't speak for people with DID, but I highly doubt it a shift to cause a response like that in an animal, and I would be very weary about speaking like this about disorders that you have no idea about, as it hurts people who struggle with this every day. There is already enough stigma around mental health, please do not spread more by misattributing mental illness with demonic possession.

I told myself I was gonna listen to two stories and then go to sleep. Terrible decision, the second story freaked me out💀
  • @Jessphone11111
For that scorpion story - dogs can also detect seizures and terminal illnesses before we can. Maybe scorpion was starting to show signs of his illness and the dog was reacting to that? An illness that causes a seizure (maybe a brain tumor?) can also cause some erratic or unusual behavior by the individual. Super interesting reaction by the dog…
  • This isn’t scary, but I find it comforting. My grandma died in 2020, and my uncle passed away in the same house years earlier. This spring, my sisters and I had the task of helping our grandpa move everything out and find a new place. It was a hoarder situation, so it was a process that took 2 months. It was bittersweet and very emotional. They lived in that house for nearly 40 years. All of our happy memories with nana and papa and uncle Kevin happened in that house. All the holidays, birthdays, etc. I’m bawling just thinking about it. The very last day we were there, it was extra emotional. The house was empty, and I stood on the porch and looked back at the house. I started to cry, and I was hit with a very intense, distinct smell of grape soda. I frantically looked around for a source of this smell, but I couldn’t find anything. For a few minutes, all I could smell was grape soda, it was so distinct and very strong. I didn’t understand why, until I remembered my uncle used to drink grape soda when we were kids. It was very peaceful and oddly comforting. I felt like that gave me a unique sense of closure for a chapter of my life that ended.
  • Fun fact - split is a HORRIBLE point of reference for the condition called borderline personality disorder or dissociative identity disorder. People who have those illnesses are NOT violent or evil as depicted in the split movie. It has just ruined people’s perceptions of people with those conditions and it makes me so irritated and angry for those people who get branded as violent psychopaths for their condition when they are in fact just normal people managing their mental illness
