  • What a great Champion. He was my favorite growing up. The sophisticated British golf spectators loved Seve, and he them. Miss him.

That was so good. Persimmon woods, miniscule blades and old school balls but still incredible golf.
  • Hard not to cry watching this all the way through...Seve, you're always gonna be a legend.

Back to a time with no technology, only pure talent. Doesn’t get much better than an Open Championship at St Andrews. Thanks for this upload.

The greatest way to win and ofcourse the most famous celebration. Great to see Seve at his best. What a player

Nostalgia elicits soulful reflection and watching a golfing hero like Seve Ballesteros win the Open at St. Andrews, in Seve like style, after all these years makes it hard to believe that he is gone. Anyone who knows anything about golf cannot deny how truly great and special he was. It seems a shame for few that they get old and pass away. Seve is one of those few. RIP great man. I am thankful that I was lucky enough to have watched you while you were in your prime.

Without doubt my favourite open, what a player

Say what you like, Tom Watson was a links course specialist. 1975-83 .. almost unbeatable.

This was the last tournament before faldos rebuild , I love his old willowy swing , he hit it a mile , Apparently a major issue was his “ ballooning flight “ Made it hard for him to control distance , I love that flight , it must’ve been something else to watch him

The perfect mix of technology, skill, and course architecture — with the result that the tournament identified the best players in the game at the time.
  • On the 3rd round of this open, I joined in with the photographers, and followed Seve at close quarters I Did have a camera with me and took just one pic, should've taken a lot more but I was simply awe struck, there was a hold up round about the turn and we were all just sitting about, and Seve's caddie aske me for a cigarette damn I never had one, best two hours of my life on a golf course.

Unfortunately my old man just failed to qualify for this British Open. We flew to Scotland for his qualifying round, from Kenya, and after he missed out, we followed Ian Baker Finch around, for a couple of days, it was great. On the last day we pretty much sat at the 17th hole. It was so awesome watching all my idles, I was 12 at the time. I met Bernard Langer at the Pringle Tent, he was cool. I ran on to the course with a couple of other kids to get Seve Ballesteros autograph and his caddy told us to piss off! 😂 That was on Wednesday, when were encouraged to do that. The game was to get a many as we could 😂 we would have been annoying. It was an experience I'll never forget.

So many Great Champions on such an iconic course…
  • @azapro911
This is basically the moment that Seve overtook Watson as the world's top player. By the way, top marks to the R&A for keeping the BBC golf theme in.

Thank you for the upload of one of the most iconic Open Championships of all time made more special by Seve's epic Victory and his never to be forgotten celebration
