I'm having a bit of fun in this video, but I do think that you can make a case from a value perspective that the Casio AE-1200WH is the greatest watch ever made.

I'm 76 years old and bought this watch, I love it. Since it has a ten year battery there's a good chance it may outlive me. I did buy a green canvas band to go with the green watch. I love the fact that I don't have to change batteries for the rest of my life.😁
  • I just picked one up. I went into Wal-Mart and saw it. It was marked for $28. They rang it up and the cashier got a funny look on her face. "Wow. Your lucky day". Apparently on clearance for 5 bucks.
  • I sometimes worked at Casio's Hamura R&D Center. When the one of the Casio brothers would leave, everyone would remain in a deep bow until his car was out of sight. It was as if a shogun had left the building.
  • To be fair...I think it's hard to argue against Casio being the best budget watch maker...They're the king

FINALLY! Somebody else shares my love for this watch. I've had many watches in my lifetime but I have always fallen back to this one. It's survived with me being homeless for years, and years more after. It's been to the top of mountains and the lowest basins with me, under water and in the air. I love this damn watch and I'll carry it with me everywhere I go
  • I'm a dress watch kind of fellow but I definitely respect what Casio has done over the years making multifunction watches affordable to the masses.

this might be the first advertisement that has ever worked on me. Watched and ten minutes later was putting in an order. Thanks for the video.
  • Comparing a twenty buck watch to a $300,000 watch. Got to love this guy.

I use it as a GMT. I’m a British guy living in Japan, so I set the home time for London which locks the analogue on British time, and then set the digital for the Tokyo time zone. I have the silver version, and although the bracelet is obviously jangly cheap, I find it amazingly comfortable and even wear it bed (to take advantage of that backlight) without losing any arm hairs!

I'm a watch guy, had a few expensive Swiss timepieces ... but Casio has a special place in my heart, my first watch was a Casio ae-30w, still working today after more than 30 years, only the band had to be changed after it fell apart.

Never been a watch guy, but I have one of these and I love it. Picked it up just because I got sick of reaching into my pocket to grab my phone to check the time, but I've become so accustomed to having it that at this point I feel vulnerable when I'm not wearing it lol. I've honestly considered hoarding a few of them just in case they ever become scarce somehow.
  • I got this one, the price has gone up a little, but still. You are absolutely right. I love mechanical watches, I even own a luxury watch, but this truly makes everything else feel obsolete by comparison. This watch is comfortable and staggeringly functional.

My wife bought me the 1200WH for Christmas after me dropping MASSIVE hints for ages. I thought she'd stopped paying attention, so when I opened my present just over a year ago, she was astonished about how made up I was! I'm wearing it as I'm watching you're video. I always wanted the calculator casio when I was a younger chap, but I love this piece. My £500 Tissot chronograph, my Dan Henry, my Seiko 5 blue dial... And my Casio AE. Watches for life. So glad you've shone a light on this budget masterpiece! Love your channel, by the way! 👍🏿

I always gave those Casio Royales away as gifts. And yes any quartz watch is infinitely more accurate than a fully mechanical watch
  • Before smart watches are invented, I've been wearing casio watches since I was 10. Now mykids are wearing Casio watches too. They really love them. We my daughter lost her watch, she was devastated. Luckily we went back to the beach where she lost it, we found the it.

Hey Dave! Solution for DST in other time zones. Just scroll over to whichever one you want DST on and hit adjust. You can toggle DST on and off this way just as would with your main time zone. The adjust feature works the same way in different time zones that you set.
  • It has often been said that this watch is the best value for money. But also in my opinion the Casio G-Shock GM5610 is even better. Yes it costs five times more at around $100 but it is far more durable and accurate due to radio controlled time keeping. And it is solar powered. Just a perfect time piece.
  • I had a Casio that had the calculator function, with all the little number buttons on the front. I liked that I could use it to make earthwork volume calculations in the field with it. And balance my check book.
