If you're a fan of this channel, chances are you've noticed that we are... how should I put this... Hopelessly and entirely obsessed with the Broadway smash hit musical Hamilton. Written by the great Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton is probably the biggest play there has ever been, bringing millions of new fans to the world of broadway musicals.
However, not many people seem to know or even care about Lin-Manuel Miranda having written another play before Hamilton; In The Heights. In the Heights is a musical that incorporates latin music and tells the story of Washington Heights and the families of immigrants from Latin American and Spanish speaking countries who have formed communities there, and if you like Hamilton, you will ABSOLUTELY LOVE In The Heights!

As a native spanish speaker I did notice how they repeat words or lines in english in order for the audience to understand, but really didn't pay much attention to it, so until now I never noticed what they did with "atención" omg

2 memories involving In The Heights 1) I saw it a week after it absolutely demolished at the Tonys. 2) seeing my majority latinx high school really sink their teeth into the show and put on a high school show with professional caliber performances. There wasn’t much acting on that stage because the story of In The Heights was the story of Siler City.

Thank you thank you! I’ve been waiting for this! I get frustrated when people don’t know about In the Heights but gush over Hamilton. I actually watched that motif video you saw too. The other day I was unconsciously mashing up songs from both musicals (one was “take a break” with “champagne,” which now that I think about it, the songs have similar themes I think).

Ok but this is great I’ve been looking for a video like this for a while that wasn’t like a recording of the songs or an animatic or an interview with the actors or anything, just someone talking about In The Heights and it’s themes and motifs and stuff 11/10 would recommend
