The Republic of Ireland politicians and RTE media want to distance from the IRA because of the unfortunate fact that their state was created by the IRA. IRA members created the two main political parties in the Irish Republic: Fianna Fail and Fianna Gael, break-away groups from Sinn Fein. During the IRA 'War of Independence' (1919-1921), when the founders of Fianna Fail and Fianna Gael were operators, the IRA carried out more murders, atrocities and bank-robberies than the Provisional IRA. However, after viewing this video, one could be forgiven for thinking that RTE journalists and Dail politicians are spectacularly oblivious to the fact that the 'Irish War of Independence' even occurred.
