Japan is the first Asian country to win the World Cup. Male or female it's just that historically remembered.

I love how Japan is always so composed even when celebrating. Even when Miyama scored she instantly picked up the ball and didn't want to lose any time.

Today is the 10th anniversary of Japan's legendary win in this Women's World Cup Final. Sawa was a superstar.

This final was so beautiful coming off of the Earthquake and tsunami. The game itself was intense as Japan came from behind in regular time and again in extra to win in penalties.

I was studying abroad in Osaka, Japan at this time, watching this game with my friend at his house, they started crying once the final whistle was blown, such an awesome memory

Who's still watching in 2020? I saw this game live, Japan played their hearts out. USA were stronger physically, but they kept pushing and challenging. Well deserved. Brought tears to me eyes watching this again

I'm Japanese. This game was really memorable and unforgettable, because it was held in 2011, when the Great East Earthquake and tsunami hit Japan. The disaster almost led our minds to be completely destroyed and feel Japan would disappear. Their spirits of never- give-up gave us a great courage and hope that Japan would definitely rise up again! We are so so proud of them!

This Japanese team was way ahead of their time. Homare Sawa's magic equaliser never fails to bring tears to my eyes, as does Saki Kumagai's penalty kick. Bayern München are so lucky to have this now legendary player in their squad.

12 years on and I still come back to this WC every time, my very first Women’s World Cup that I watched and it’s by the best for me, the chills just never seize to end.

    感動した🥲 日本女子本当に頑張ってくれた 今でも記憶に新しい
  • the last corner by Japan was perfectly executed. They knew they were gonna lose heading since all American players are tall. Instead Sawa(goal scorer) went to the front to make contact. Perfect!!!!
