I had an empty tissue box and some other garbage lying around, so I crafted this Bath House from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away, aka 千と千尋の神隠しより「油屋」

This is episode one in an ongoing series on crafting various things from my favorite Studio Ghibli films. Stay tuned for more episodes, including the culminating final episode which will join all Studio Ghibli crafts into one diorama.

This is probably the only person in the world who, when they say “I won’t throw this {insert random piece of junk} out because I might use it some day” genuinely does.
  • @juncha2739
"I made a non-functioning sliding door, also known as a door themed wall" you said this golden line in such a dry tone it nearly passed me by unnoticed, I had to rewind back to thoroughly appreciate it

gonna be honest here, if there’s a thing i envy in artists is how easily some of them just go with the flow and have fun. if i were to do a project like this i would mesure out everything, make a detailed plan with every proportion, and (if i managed to keep going after it already stressed me out) end up crying when it eventually didn’t work the way i planned.

Creator: Talks about not using 4s in the build. Also creator: Uses four beams over the main balcony. :D Love the edit and the humor! Cheers.

came for the ghibli crafts... stayed for jokes and snark

"this garbage makes an excellent crafting material", my mom about me when I got into med school
  • "I'm not paying too much atention to details" 2 minutes later: "I tried to avoid number four at all elements on the project because it's bad luck and sounds 'death' in japanese" Really impressed with this project, it's beautiful

Is no one going to talk about his first patreon member being the creator of Stardew Valley?

I can’t tell you how hard I laughed at the “door themed wall” joke as well as some others 😂 it’s not fair that you’re this funny AND a talented builder
  • @Spangletiger
Love this humour infused tutorial! You must be youtube's 'zefrank' of the model- making world. Thank you for choosing to use materials that are easy to come by, as well as using not too many tools, making the project inviting to those who want to have a go but don't have a great deal of equipment to start with. Also, bonus points galore for finding such an attractive use for one of the ugliest materials known to crafting!

Ok. So being a 63 year old grandmother this isn’t usually my style, but it was recommended and I watched it all the way - I have to say I loved it especially the commentary. So I have subscribed. Looking forward to more.

Derek Zoolander : “What is this?! A CENTER FOR ANTS ?!! How can the spirits be able to bathe and replenish themselves if they can't even fit inside the building ? The Bathhouse has to be at least............ THREE times bigger than this!!” Okay, but seriously, I wanna say as a Studio Ghibli fan and a lover of "Spirited Away", this replica miniature is gorgeous! The fact you made a whole bathhouse by using a tissue box is impressive!

5:49 Wait, wait, wait? Your first patron was Eric Barone? ConcernedApe?! That's not just a coincidence, is it? Mr. Stardew Valley himself was your first patron?
  • @ravineprojects
Woah wasn’t expecting the whole friggin bathhouse edit: this is in response to a Patreon teaser post where just a shot of the bridge was posted 🤦
  • @MoonlightJewel
Absolutely stunning ❤️ can’t wait to see Howls Moving Castle 💕
  • @mi_kki
4:50 You mentioned that you avoided choosing beams or anything that had to do with the number four, and I think that's a neat attention to detail! A lot of people are superstitious in Japanese culture and I appreciate you adding attention to that detail ☺️
