I have always been of the opinion: if you don't want opposing players to celebrate make sure they have nothing to celebrate. Otherwise it has always just come off as being petty because you got bested imo
  • So let me get this straight, in baseball it would be perfectly legal to throw a fastball directly at the batter because 10 years ago they insulted my eyebrows?
  • @fallendeus5641
The "umpire unwritten rule" is just them ignoring the actual rules of the game and should have resulted in them being blacklisted from every league.
  • respect to people who don't intentionally throw 90mph fastballs at someone's head

it’s funny that the generations above the current one always call this generation sensitive but would literally throw baseballs at peoples skulls for showing emotion
  • "The only retaliation was a pitcher mocking him after striking him out." THAT is exactly how players should respond to other players showboating. You strike a showboating hitter out, then showboat at him back. Or you homer off a showboating pitcher, then showboat at him back.
  • The no wives rule gotta be cause everyone was cheating the second they got on the road 😂😂😂

Baseball is certainly in a struggle against itself, especially when you factor in that there's a deep drive into left field by Nick Castellanos and that'll be a home run.

During a blow out I say swing for the fence. Stats pay the bills, being nice to the other team doesn't. Unwritten blow out rules are for little league not the majors.

I've never seen people more in their feelings than baseball players "he celebrated too much, now I'm mad", "you stared 1 second more than what I perceive is allowed after a home run". These dudes would literally cry if they were in MMA or football.

We had a saying when I played. If you serve potatoes, they’re going to get mashed. Getting pissed at someone who shows you up after you throw a beach ball is all on you.
  • The Korean Ump's reaction to the batflip on the walk is everything.
  • I hate the whole “don’t try to win too much” thing. In my view It’s disrespectful to your opponent to give anything less than maximum effort until the game ends. If the other team doesn’t think they can win and wants mercy they should forfeit the game. The only reason the other team is still playing is because they’re hoping for a rally and in baseball you can feasibly score any number of runs and come back. It’s the job of the winning team to tack on as many insurance runs as possible, treating each at bat as though the game is tied.
  • As someone who is new to baseball, the whole bat flip thing is insane to me. Most of the examples shown here don't even look like a bat flip to me, just dropping the bat before you run. If these are all bat flips, I have literally no idea what the "correct" way to proceed would be after hitting a home run and no idea why anyone would get mad at someone for them celebrating doing something cool.

I will NEVER forget watching Odor land that heater across Bautista’s face.

An intentional 100 MPH pitch to the head is also called "Attempted Murder."
  • I've always been on the side of 2 main things 1. Let the players have fun and celebrate 2. Score as much as possible no matter what as a comeback is never impossible
  • I always thought it was strange that pitchers cam jump around, fis pump and yell in triumph when striking someone out but the batters can't celebrate at all without the pitchers getting upset.
  • You know the best mind game you can play in a competitive sport is just don’t give the trash talker the reaction they’re looking for. Just don’t do anything. And when you get back at them also don’t do anything.

Q: Why don’t you celebrate your good plays? A: Because you have to act like you’ve done it before. -Barry Sanders
