Youtube recommended me this on a whim. I'd forgotten that this game existed, but I bought it years ago. I didn't play it much but it's interesting how the look of the game hasn't changed all that much since those days. So you might have noticed, but inserters or robots or whatever they are called will move items more quickly when set to 90 degrees since they don't have to spend as much time rotating, something to keep in mind for the future. I remember when I played I liked to have them at crazy angles so that I could benefit from the quicker right angle movement (I.E. having a belt one step below the machines I was inserting into, and have the arms grab from the belt below and insert into the machines to the side). As for why you couldn't make planks you were probably on the right track regarding the saw blades.... or more specifically it's likely that you don't have the saw blades researched yet and thus planks aren't technically researched. I could be wrong, but that's my best guess.

Great to see a YouTuber play this game. Seems all Foundry, but this was the first Voxel factory game. For me the best, with almost 600 hours gameplay, guess I like it.
