CAVALERA re-recordings of Sepultura's first EP, Bestial Devastation, and first full-length album, Morbid Visions, are out on July 14, 2023 via Nuclear Blast Records.
Max Cavalera comments, “As we get harder year after year, sometimes you’ve got to go back to where it all started! We re-recorded Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions with the amazing sound of NOW, but with its raw and timeless spirit. The artwork reflects the times we’re living in right now…. Apocalyptic as hell! We also have two new tracks with riffs from those days, remembered by heart.”
Iggor Cavalera states, “I always felt like the recordings of our earlier work didn’t do justice to the way we performed the songs. So, this is a very special moment in our lives that we are very proud to show you real fans our true representation of the amazing records Bestial Devastation & Morbid Visions with an insane visual identity…enjoy and see you all in the pit”
Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation were re-recorded at The Platinum Underground. The albums were produced by Max Cavalera and Iggor Cavalera while John Aquilino handled the engineering. Arthur Rizk was responsible for the mixing and mastering of both albums. CAVALERA enlisted Eliran Kantor to create the artwork for both albums.

Sepultura concert Dec. 1990 – Villa Real Convention Center – McAllen Texas. While opening bands Sadus, Devastation, and Obituary were playing, drummer Igor was walking around taking pictures with fans, signing autographs and hanging out at the merchandise stand. Later, before their set, Max came to the side of the stage to take pictures with the fans. Earlier, when we were waiting in line to enter, we could see through the door windows that the bands and their road crew were playing soccer before the beginning of the show. Great show.

This is a re recording done right. It still has that rawness and Max sounds like he wants to tear your freaking head off. 🤘🤘

I loved the songs on Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation, but I always wished I'd get to hear versions of those songs produced and performed well. I wasn't expecting to ever get to have this happen. 🔥

I got into sepultura circa Chaos AD and, although I did try, I couldn’t get myself to listen through the earlier albums due to the recording quality. Rediscovering this catalogue now is like the best birthday present I could wish for my turning 40.

In my opinion Morbid Visions is one of the best example on how you should combine black metal and thrash metal. The re-recording of this album really shows that this album were thoroughly written and the Cavalera brothers treats us with not jus an ordinary re-recording. Good job Max, you've made the right decision, twice.
