@mommaangler and her family travelled to Miami, Florida to catch fish in the urban canals using their fly rods. While there, James, caught a juvenile tarpon under one of the bridges! Watch and see how he makes his cast, fights the fish and gets it all on camera! Fly fishing can be challenging but extremely rewarding. He used a 9 foot, 8 weight, ‪@TempleForkOutfitters‬ NXT fly rod and a ‪@blanechocklettfishing7718‬ game changer fly tied by ‪@FishChaseFlies‬ . Rigging for predator fish was a cinch using his ‪@UmpquaFeatherMerchants‬ warm water 16 lb leader and a non slip loop knot to the fly. Miami canals are host to dozens and dozens of species, so you just never know what you might catch! James caught his fish in December, an off season for so many fish, as the winter temperatures can play a major part in their activity. This tarpon was eager to take the fly and did not disappoint in its many, many acrobatics. Watch and see how exciting fly fishing in Miami can truly be. James' enthusiasm is nearly contagious and the thrill of the fight has left him smiling for days upon days!
