    Have you ever experienced gaslighting?
  • Gaslighting is from the 1944 British film Gaslight. In the film a husband tries to convince his wife she is crazy by denying and causing her to question her objective reality.
  • An ex would SCREAM at me, ‘for every two fingers you are pointing at me, there are three pointing back at you’ every single time I simply wanted to have an adult conversation about my point of view. He would proceed to dismiss and disregard my feelings while saying it is not what I see and feel and hear. Whew! Traumatic! I believe that was gaslighting. It’s a horrible experience especially when the words are being SCREAMED at the top of one’s long with his veins popping out his neck! Over a decade ago and still traumatic in reflection.

First 5-8 minutes..... Chef's kiss! I needed this. You both are gems. Totally agree with Margo that all of these things (shadow work, healing inner child, etc) should be done with a professional. I'm glad we are becoming more open about the mental health conversations. HOWEVER, we have to understand we should not go from therapy being taboo to getting information and self diagnose without the actual professionals.

My whole family gaslit me into thinking i was mentally ill. When i got away from them I found I wasn't. I was strong and SANE.💪

I’ve known of the term gaslight because of the 1944 movie, but its use has never been more trendy than it has been lately; I believe most of the time it is used incorrectly. This was another great topic, thank you both! Also you should definitely watch the movie 🍿.
  • Thank you for this! "Gaslighting" It is often misused - the term is frequently employed as an anger accelerant to side track reasoned discussion.
  • I am happy to become a part of your community! In fact, I meant to do so previously, as I learn from you, expand my vocabulary and views based on both of your “ intellectualisms” surrounding this very layered and complex life. I am signing up now because you are number 1 in my book when it comes to podcasts with Native Land coming in as a close second.

    P. Diddy (allegedly) gaslighted Cassie and made the world think he would never do this to any woman. That she must be crazy all the while.... until CNN releases the tape of you actually physically emotionally and financially abusing her.... now he is so sorry crocodile tears 😢😢😭. The mere fact that no one came to this lady's defense.

You two have become my fave podcast to keep coming back to, time and time again! Thank you for making this accessible, fun and responsive to our changing world. Also, I tried listening to this episode on Spotify and I couldn’t find your page though I’m following and I’ve listened to previous episodes.

Excellent episode and topic ladies! I subscribe to both in support of the tribunal movement (help run them sub’ numbers up!). However, I love watching you both on the Tube for the ‘fits and the faces and facial expressions during commentary. 😁 🤍

You are a trained attorney. I'm sure you were arguing as if you were trying to win a case. I think I've experienced gaslighting.
