Me and a friend went to the beach not far from you. We decided to check where the dunes had eroded in a funnel shape down to the beach. This stream came down the funnel. We started panning out the beach sand and saving the black sand and dumping it into a bucket to pan later. After dumping a pan into the bucket he panned out just what was stuck to the bottom of the pan. This video shows what was stuck to the bottom of the pan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_IIbWedX4f0&t= We found the about 6 inches down below this was a layer of totally black sand. You didn't even have to pan it. At my age holding the camera is my line of work. We took 6 buckets of black sand home and let the kids pan them out and keep what they found. Kinda regretted that LOL.
