Upper Heyford isn't in Bichester, it's in the village of Upper Heyford. At least it was when I was stationed there in the 70's with the 20th AMS as a "C" shopper. I used to love going to eat at Hopcroft's Holt which wasn't far from base. The only pain for me was my base housing was at RAF Gaydon near Stratford Upon Avon, which was a fair drive on a good day.
