No F1 team signs a bad driver on purpose. But sometimes a variety of factors get in the way and deals that were signed with high expectations fail to work out. For this video we've gone back through the history of each of the 10 teams on the current F1 grid - tracing some back through various previous guises - to work out who has been their worst driver of all time. "He's going to be around for a while" - To Nikita Mazepin.. Yea that isn't aging well.
  • Are you telling me Ricardo Rosset’s stint at Tyrell was better than Zonta’s at BAR?
  • @Adithya13303
Considering you are looking into the historical forms of the current teams then it's a huge surprise that you haven't included Ricardo tosseR for Mercedes (Tyrell)
  • @Srga91
I think this is a little unfair to Mansell and Mazepin, as they only did two, respectively five races for their teams. I'd rather put Michael Andretti ('93) for McLaren and Esteban Gutierrez ('16) for Haas, as they did more races than Mansell and Mazepin and were totally dominated by their teammates.

How did Ricardo Rosset escape the ignominy for 'Mercedes'?
  • @jordannufcfan
Surprised you didn’t pick Ricardo Rosset for Mercedes
  • @Mike-xh8fl
Edd Straw has some really weird ideas at the best of times (had to get a dig in at Badoer yet again, huh?), but hilariously choosing Zonta over Rosset simply because he agreed to do an Autosport podcast interview a couple of years back? Goddamn.

I would of chosen Gutteirez for Haas. He scored nothing while Grosjean got all the points.
  • I honestly thought Ricardo Rosset, not Zonta, was instead chosen as worst Mercedes-continuity driver.

This also works well to remind some younger fans of some teams and their past guises. Strange that whilst you mentioned that Jan Magnussen drove sportscars, you ignored Nelson Piquet Jr's Formula E title!
  • @AndreiTupolev
McLaren: I'd have thought Michael Andretti would be in with a shout
  • Saying Nikita Mazepin "is going to be around for a while" might have been calling that shot a little early looking at this video in March of 2022.
  • @txmmymai3175
Haven’t watched the video but Mazepin 2022 edit: I support Mazepin now, he’s just trying his best on the grid and we’re judging him too hard at times (despite the scandals and lack of pace) 2022 Part 2: Kevin wiped the floor on Schumi Jr, truly showed how far Mazepin was behind from the average F1 driver. His departure wasn't the best but truly the only way forward for Haas
  • @Jusuff
I think Andrea De Cesaris should have been the pick for Mclaren, since he only scored one point the whole season
  • @GaryWagers
I was rather surprised to see that someone beat Michael Andretti to the McLaren slot here, but I suppose it makes sense that Andretti did do more races and scored a podium in the process.
