He's from Uvalde, and he talked to the parents the following morning after the shooting. He is doing something. Thank you for your efforts.

" WE ARE NOT AS DIVIDED AS WE ARE BEING TOLD WE ARE" The most important statement I've heard in quite a few years.

This is the epitome of never forgetting where you come from. God bless him.

He was spot on with everything he said. I admire celebrities who use their celebrity to do good. Like Matthew, like Sean Penn and John Stewart. They don't have to do this stuff. They could be doing anything, anywhere in the world. Not bother with the very real issues in our country. I appreciate them. Thank you, Matthew and Camilla.
  • The most poignant, powerful, intelligent and reasonable oration I’ve heard about this issue!!! Let’s move forward to a truly safe and civil society!
  • He has the platform to represent his home town and he took advantage of it. His speech was passionate but reasonable. Thank you, sir.

I loved that he said ALL of their names at the end. They deserve for their names and stories to live on! May they Rest In Peace. Thank you Matthew for your powerful and impactful words.

I am a 42 year old Army veteran. I had my first child 3 years ago. At this point and time I can not imagine letting her go to school with the way things stand now. I do not want the grieve that those parents have. If we have to ban guns, or make it more difficult for people to obtain them I will support. We are losing our children over an object. We are losing our children over a fear that our own government is out to get us. My child is more important than that. Thank you Mr. McConaughey for taking the lead on this. I really hope we get things better before she is old enough for school. I would not be able to bear losing her that way.

Instead of simply saying, “Something needs to change,” he put the reality of the situation right in front of our faces. Tons of respect. 💚

I'm a 36yo Marine Veteran firefighter. Been to a lot of countries for conflicts. I enjoy martial arts, bjj, boxing. Have accolades in all. I also have daughters. I cried pretty good watching this. Him as a native of that town I appreciate his voice in what he's done to try to help those families in his hometown. Powerful and commendable. Hardest gut shot I've had in a long time.
  • You can see what a humble person he is and I can feel the anger and pain for these innocent children and teachers 😪😞🙏
  • @esdee499
He is so connected to each and every single one of those victims. He took the time to speak and understand each family as people and not a statistic. He didnt go as some big movie star but as a compassionate human being.

"We can't truly be leaders if we're only living for re-election." - Matthew McConaughey Enough said 💜

I've always admired the way this man can take an issue, examine all sides of it, find common points of agreement, and draw corrolaries between those points that make sense. He's, without question, a gifted actor. But he's also a gifted analyst and speaker. To those in power, I implore you please, listen to him.
  • My heart goes out to all families of the victims. I didn't know one child there and yet I still cried for them and felt my heart break as I thought about it more and more. God bless you all and hopefully one day this world will learn to embrace life more rather than destroy it. 🙏
  • The way he said that as soon as he heard, he packed Camille and the kids up in the car and drove to Ulvade. Then he spoke to all of the families. Using his platform for good and using his heart to help others. The humility is unbelievable. What an incredible man. What an incredible family. ❤️
  • I’ve lost a child-you are never the same. You walk around with a black hole in your heart for the rest of your life. Please vote in politicians who care! 🙏 Please vote.

Being at the graduation ceremony of my son in 5th grade today and watching them get their awards, brougth to my mind the comments made by the teacher that lost 11 students in his class. Those children never got the chance to celebrate as we did. I feel the pain inside knowing how sad those children parents and relatives are right now. God give them confort in these tragic event in their lives.

I can't even imagine the pain and gut wrenching grief these families are feeling. My heart aches for them. I'm so angered by our selfish politicians and citizens who care more about themselves, than fixing this problem. Thank you Matthew, for your efforts on behalf of the slain precious children, and school staff.
