That definitely looks like a smiling face to me Jami. While watching Rita flaunting her stuff, Dinky Daryl wasn't showing his male parts, and this makes me think that he simply loves Rita and wants to be close to her and the rest of the horses because he has been lonely for who knows how long. This was just a cuteness overload. He will be happy when he is moved from here and is able to be a part of any animals so as to not feel so alone. Donkeys crave to be a part of a herd and companionship even when it may not be of their own species.
