I wouldn't say Rex Grossman was even a one hit wonder. He was bad for most of 2006, too. They made it to the Super Bowl despite of him, not because of him. The defense and Devin Hester carried them.

The browns gave up on Anderson too early. In his career as a backup he was one of the best. Cleveland whines they never find a QB then do dumb things like failing to further work with Anderson after his breakout year. They beat the Steelers in the playoffs with Mayfield then dump him after a year of atrocious injuries, swapping him for the new villain of the NFL SMART

Its totally common for guys to come out and have initial success, but after a while opposing teams have some tape on them, theres inevitably a sophomore slump as defenses adjust. As for Maddox, he found new life after a good season in Vince McMahan's XFL, not Arena Football
