This is something i have been working on in the background. And while the car and tuning isnt finished yet, the Atoto S8 has finally got me the live data i want when i drive around. If you are driving a tuned car having decent access to live data is cruicial. The S8 and Maxxecu make an incredible pair.

The S8 is also by far the best double din android uinit i have used. These are very universal compared to model specific android units and Atoto have done such a good job at trying to make not on the software work on as many cars as possible but also the hardware. Its a very impressive bit of kit.

That's a very nice unit, Andrew. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend. Dutch regards Nico.

nice to see a good youtube channel related to car stuff in my neck of the woods on brisbane northside!

Looks fast. That's quite nice. I'm not a huge tech geek but I do enjoy playing with the xtrons in my e39. I have a rear camera for it but haven't taken the time to book it up yet because it's been sitting for months. The check valve in my oil filter housing broke and I don't want to kill the rod bearings.

ive been working on a stereo myself in my e60. i actually built an extension harness to move the stock radio to the trunk, i wanted to retain warning chimes and park distance control and i drive, as well as the i drive. but i was never happy with any of the android head units the carplay has always been finiky and the Bluetooth audio for some reason has always ended up sounding like the speakers are blown. i used the sos speaker for front left, the center chanel speaker in the dash im using for the rear and added another "sos" speaker under the passenger side kick panel for front right. i used a pac steering wheel control interface which also gave me a switched ignition output for my aftermarket pioneer head unit as well as illumination, e brake, and rear camera. the whole idea is eventually ill get an android i drive screen for mhd gauges and other i drive activities and have a standalone pioneer head unit with carplay for the stereo. i also just looped the most optical back in to the stereo and all audio from i drive plays through the aforementioned dedicated speakers.

i have an older version of the atot without physical volume buttons and no steering wheel controls. so this looks like its solved my biggest issue with my current unit.

I love the MaxxECU and yes Mdash is wonderful, Will be buying an android head unit for my BMW, one day.

The one issue with the virtual birds eye is if something comes in from the side it will not pick it up and you could miss it... obviously don't depend entirely on a camera for position awareness. I'm debating between this and the Eonon UA12S-PLUS. Would be interested in a follow up video after you have been using it, most of the review videos are within a few days of install. how are the buttons, is the touch screen reactivity still good etc.
  • @cerberus_
Very cool! I prefer a raspberry pi and nice touch screen to go with. Flash it with any rom you want for full control and custom sensors galore on the pi. Get an anti glare screen protector!

I've got a classic mini, if he processor is the same, a 7" would probably be a better fit... so sometimes smaller is better :-) thanks for the video.

Been waiting for the pro 8 to come down in price on Amazon in my country and Iโ€™d buy one.
  • Love seeing the old zero to 60 cars. I know it's been covered before but is there any chance of more refined e9x 8speed content now that 8speedAU is a thing? I'm also curious if 8speedAU are going to offer up kits for E9X 8 speed kits, I think alot of us on 6HP are keen on the swap but just get overwhelmed with the options and information and instead turn to 7DCT kits. Glad to see you succeeding after the events of the man who took your laptops (and the rest).
  • @iliketorockrock
Very fast indeed! it looks faster than my Samsung phone can connect to maxx
  • @onesikm3
Hey brother that is one hell of a double din ๐Ÿ˜ I hope I can fit one in the e36 with some cutting up lol Does this have optical output by any chance ? I have a full dsp setup, a steg to be exact so I would like to utilize its optical input over the traditional rca while having all these bells n whistles! Subwoofer output have you found out if that works ?
  • @friguy4444
I've been looking at units lately and the one thing I wonder is is it better to get a BMW E90 specific unit compared to this? I don't have any other cars except two Bimmers My 335 doesn't have the factory screen (Single hump) so I'm not sure what to really trust. I bought a unit back in 2018 for my E46 M3 and it's now crap. (It wasn't great to begin with). So I don't want a repeat of that thing. Thanks Andrew. I've never heard anyone say they prefer a smaller anything either LOL.
  • @Gl3Nn123
How do you find maxxecu? I'm looking at putting one in 2jz/8hp car and like to hear other people's experiences.
  • @starfox_wr-45e93
Would this fit into an e53? I assume this unit has bluetooth 5.0+ allowing it to connect smoothly, quickly and to multiple devices
  • @oldowl4290
I think Im going to get the 7โ€ for my truck. I just need to sort out all the differences between the Pro, Premium, and Ultra offerings of the S8.
