People like Ron Fair are the reason good music exists. Making a good song is like a drug to that man

My oldest sister died of cancer in July 2002 at 42 years of age. As the oldest male in my family I was expected to be everyone's rock through the day of her funeral. I remember leaving the cemetery alone in my car when "A Thousand Miles" came on the radio. The lyrics "'Cause you know I'd walk a thousand miles just to see you tonight" brought all of my bottled up emotions to the surface and I cried harder than I think I have ever cried in my life. I missed my sister terribly and it was the first time since she passed that I was able to express any emotion about it. That song came at the right time and allowed me to grieve for my sister. Thank you for this song, Vanessa. As I type this almost 19 years later, I'm crying again, and still missing her.

No matter what the producer did to the song, it's her piano part that makes the song stand out and sound somewhat profound and not just a typical pop song.
  • @schauzeit
A Thousand Miles is one of those songs that can’t have a remake.
  • @BenSenneck92
How is no one talking about the fact that there is a famous actor for whom this was written?
