This week on Money Pit, we’re doing brain surgery! That’s right, we’re replacing the factory ECU with a Megasquirt Standalone ECU so we can take complete control over the engine and the way it runs. Then we’ll take it to our friends at EF1 Tuning to develop a tune - can we make any more power with our new brain?

Just noticed I was saying things like 'big voltage' and 'little voltage' when talking about the relay 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️that's not a thing! Voltage is constant! I should've said current. Anyway just wanted to call myself out on that, hope everyone enjoys the video and has a totally tubular Wednesday! - Zach

I can’t stress enough how donut made an incredible decision hiring this guy

Miata: Please I’m overheating I need more cooling before I die Zach: Yea so we’re gonna replace the brains of the Miata for some gainz
  • @philipaliscious
It baffles me just how smart and knowledgeable Zach is in so many realms. Electrical, mechanical, you name it. Such a good teacher.

"I think my hands are clean enough for brain surgery" - The last thing you want to hear from your surgeon
  • @worldwaryou.
Everyone from Donut is great, but this guy is the most relatable since he actually wrenches on cars in the driveway. Also, bring back Bart.

I have never seen someone being so excited about their car making 112 hp

Best host for sure. He feels the realest and whenever he talks about or explains something it doesn't feel like an information dump. Best host 100%
  • Is no one going to acknowledge that the companies name is “Megasquirt”?

"Lil dudes getting beefy" they grow up so fast
  • Imagine if your dr came in and said, “I think we’re gonna attempt brain surgery... I think I’d be good at it.”

"It's so hot out" Blocks off driver's air vent

While I love how well Zach explains things and educates the viewers, one thing cracks me up. "So we're going to add a standalone ECM" Ok, easy. "Now we just have to add this sensor, this switch, this gauge, this other sensor, some power wiring, a couple other parts, tear apart the dash, behind the seat, some wiring under the hood, and that's it!" . . . .for a standalone ECM :D

Zach's seriously 90% of why I'm subscribed to Donut, super great host and all around super watchable.
  • @RoxusRemo
Actually love how donut teach you along the way. Entertaining, relatable with a a commonly modded car, well presented and easy to watch.
  • @gospeed81
having been in the Miata turbo scene, I was more than impressed not only with the topic, but how well you went thru everything. Most of the time interesting car management blogs/vlogs gloss over the details that make standalones so powerful. Earned a subscribe

  • @isaaclea1965
Probably one of the more interesting episodes so far, its cool as hell learning about the process
  • @Nickelman16
You made something that I saw to be the most complex part of a vehicle, into the simplest part. That made 100% sense, word for word. Well Done! And Thank You!
