Thank you for #1, being humble, #2 breaking it down for people who are newbs. I'm not wanting to use a DAW. I'm an analog guy who feels people spend too much time operating software rather than making music. Hardware is efficient and simple: plug it in and turn the knob, done.
  • It took surprisingly long to find this information. I've been trying to find a way to record my vocals and the guitar for a live experience, for a high quality, but not necessarily studio quality. I also needed this accomplished without a computer. Thank you for clarifying and giving me a solution to continue to progress instead of worrying about other expenses I just don't want to involve myself with right now like a whole computer. You the man!

Dude great video I believe when I record my songs I'll do it like this with the Tascam you used. I don't like making things complicated im not trying to become a producer so no need to be extra I just want to record my music is a good way for others to hear.
  • The first song I learned on the base he was playing. Smoke over the water. Deep purple. A classic

Good info. How about using a digital recorder and recording the sound of a keyboard through the headphone jack? Thanks.
  • Hi🙏🤗 thanks for this video, I've been recording in my studio professionaly for over 25 years, and I am fed up of computers and Microsoft and Apple. Portastudio or MTR, is so much better and free from worries I going back to MTR now and saving money.Love Cheers 🎹🙏

Thank you!!! He says it right there: CD quality. YASSS! Vocalist, pianist, keyboard/synth, flute, guitar, pots and pans, owls, lol...I'm nearly ready to jump on this one. SOOOO grateful for this simple, practical solution! Now I just need to figure out if, once I've got my tracks recorded, can I play them back on the same unit during my gigs? Or maybe record the tracks on the one SD card and pop it in a laptop hooked to speakers? Also, not sure how to make sure it all gets synced but I'm assuming there has to be a way or I will make one up!
  • Thanks all my music multitrack cassette and DAT all music from the korg M1 Easier than a computer Now using the Boss BR 80 Love it works for me Minimalist

On that Tascam...did youbuse an internal or external mic??
  • This is interesting, I will most likely consider getting a multitrack recorder perhaps a decent high end one because in my personal experience i've always have found it very tiduous to record tracks on a computer for some reason. The bright screen from a computer monitor, replugging in the interface somtimes for when it cuts connection was a pain and then having to asign tracks from the interface through the daw every single time using a mouse (even with a good editing mouse too) it just can take away from the whole asthetics of simply trying to record a decent track that can have a real raw emotional sound to it. I've tried going portable with a laptop before for a while and it was okay but it still can be way too many things to start up. These multitrack recorders seem like the way to go for just plugging in and hitting record. Any suggestions on a good multitrack recorder brand??

Thanks for this video! I have a DAW, but I find my DAW brain to be very different than my recording/live playing brain and I don't want to be futzing with a tiny laptop whilst recording, nor do I want to buy a laptop (my main computer is a beast but in a different room). I just want to quickly mark down ideas with vocals and acoustic guitar to a click track (since these are tightly inter-dependent) and then record bass guitar and drums over that. I guess a mixer would be redundant with a quality DAW-free recording device? Then, what I'd want to do is bring that all to Studio One (in a different room) and then edit it all like a mad scientist....quantizing, repeating good takes, adding FX, etc. Is this possible using the SD Card method you mentioned? Thanks!

I love my tascam dp008ex it works with my hiphop and has great mics 🎙️ build in. I didn’t want the 6 track ver cause it don’t have auto master and mix down witch is the best part of the machine anything to avoid a daw I love dawless setups.

Great video I’ve been looking for this. Question when recoding vocals to a track will I be able to hear the beat I’m recording vocals to while I’m recording ???
