Sonic, and the company that created him, Sega, have a long and complicated history. There's been a ton of behind the scenes drama and bad decisions, but lots of ambition and vision. This makes the Sonic franchise and Sega as a whole ripe for lost media. So I made this video, talking about as much Sonic and Sega lost media I could find. I hope you enjoy!!! Also shoutouts to sites like The Lost Media Wiki, Sega Retro, and Unseen64 for being endless sources of information :)

After a lot of work and and drinking, the Sonic and Sega lost media iceberg is finished! I hope you enjoyed, and thanks for the support! If there's another iceberg I should take on, let me know!

Actually, Generations' lost ports goes something like this: The game started development as "Sonic Anniversary" in early 2009, and was set to be released on the 360, PS3, Wii, DS, PSP and PC released in 2011 for the 20th anniversary. Later that same year (presumably), the Wii and DS versions deviated into their own game, of what would become Colors. The general consensus for the PSP version is that it turned into the 3DS version.

Puyo Puyo was supposed to be localized as a Kitsy Cat (What Puyo Puyo is a licensed game of) game but that never happened.

Actually, Unleashed started out as SA3, but eventually drifted off into its own thing.

ONLY 100 views with this quality !?!?? This was amazing definitely subbed keep up the grind
  • You forgot the original version of Shinobi 3, which was essentially completed, but they opted to restart development when the reviews were lukewarm.
  • @ShiningTaiga
Based for mentioning Sakura Taisen in the begining

Seems Aegis: The First Mission is getting a rerelease on both Nintendo Switch and Steam. Here's hoping FF: Before Crisis also gets a re-release at some point.

Vectorman 3 looked alright. Sad that it got shut down. If a sequel or reboot ever gets made, would love to see a shoot-the-Sega-logo easter egg

22:20 IIRC there's an interview where they explain why the Shenmue remakes were canned, I can't remember exactly why but I think it was a combo of money and them realizing that fans would rather just have a straight port of the two games, but I could be misremembering. And as for the question at the end of the entry: I was born in 2003 so the only Shenmue hype I saw was III and uh it's one of my favorite series ever. I feel like it still holds up really well, it gets a bad rap now because of the Like a Dragon/Yakuza comparisons despite both series not really having that much in common. Go into it expecting the origins of a lot stuff like Oblivion and the Witcher III and to enjoy a lot of funny dialogue and you'll come out a fan. 1 is an essential cozy game and 2 & 3 have so much stuff to occupy you for hours. Although i always forget my username might make me seem bias, lol.
  • I want to find out where that xbox with dreamcast support prototype if it exists also gametap had the only port of knuckles chaotix to ever exist officially

The game that Sega told Travelers Tales to make was actually Sonic 3D Blast which is my favorite sonic game.

11:50 "Sega Swirl 2. The sequel to the game that next to none of you have played." Hey, I played it. 😅 I had Sega Smash Pack 2 on our Windows 98 PC in the early to mid 2000's, and Sega Swirl was included on the disc. It was kind of cool
