Summer Of '42
Theme song, Hollywood movie 'Summer of '42 ' (1971, USA)

Feelings of the summer of ’42 that's passed ... First Love.
Unforgettable 'Sweet and sour sentiments' that like a swaying and shining light ... Still now, one summer bittersweet loves reminiscence brought back in to my mind.

Sentiments de l’été 42 passé... Premier Amour.

The Summer of '1942.... Because, still under wartime... a boy was evacuating to the island and having boring days. But one day, Boy meets a fascinating woman on this island ... It was a lovely older woman. This is the story of Fresh love that spelled the encounter and farewell of a boy of one summer.
I watched to dazzling charm of Jennifer O'Neill that playing a lovely older women, That time, that for too much lovely I was forget me, and forgot to pass to time!
And Gary Grimes playing adolescent boys attracted to beautiful ladies was also a wonderful natural acting.
And, than anything the appeal of this movie was Michel Legrand's soundtrack .
The song composed of interwoven with string instruments such as violin and wind instruments was a delicate, deep, very sentimental and beautiful music.

The theme song of this movie
'Theme For Summer Of '42 The Picasso Suite'
'The Summer Knows (End Title Theme From Summer Of '42)'

Please enjoy with beautiful Michel Legrand theme song.

'Theme For Summer Of '42 The Picasso Suite'
'The Summer Knows (End Title Theme From Summer Of '42)'

This movie and music will stay with me until the day I'm gone.
  • Decades later, this still gives me goosebumps and moves me to tears. It was based on a true story.
  • This was me, in 1968' I was 15, and fell in love with a woman in her 20s, she fell in love with me also, she would not marry me, cause I'm 5' 8" she was 6' 5" she said I was to short! Anyway , she became a school teacher, and was married year's later to a guy 5' 5" GO FIGURE! but year's passed, and one day she showed up at my front door, we had a long courtship, and it was the most romantic time of my life! We never married, I moved away, but not a day goes by I don't think about her! After all these year's, I tried to contact her, to no avail, then Googled her name, and was sadly 😔 informed she had passed away in 08' of breast cancer 🎀 R I.P. MY SWEET' JODIE!

There is a summer of '42 in every man's life.
  • I remember seeing this film when it was released in ‘71. I was just about Hermie’s age and, damn, did I ever want to fall in love with someone who looked like Jennifer O’Neill. I was captivated by this movie - the storyline, the score, the beauty of a woman out of my reach - at 14 or 15 years old, I had no idea what falling in love was, nor would I until four years later when I met a girl my own age who stole my heart and broke it shortly thereafter. I’ve been fortunate to have been married for over forty years to the woman who made my life worth living, but hearing this theme music and watching this clip brought me right back to that time of teenage angst and sadness over losing at love for the first time. Time heals all, but the scars remain.

This movie captured a moment in time (like most movies do) in which America was more like America. The quiet strength of the narration of this man and his coming of age is as beautiful as the entire soundtrack by master composer Michel Legrand. A gem from wherever point of view you look at it.

I've watched this movie a dozen times...and at 72, it still takes me back to my teens....and Jennifer was one of the most stunning women, I ever saw.
  • @bobvogel2412
Jennifer was gorgeous way back in 1971. And today (2022) still gorgeous at 74 years old. Yes we all age however she has done so in amazing fashion. She makes my hair sweat. STILL! As in right now.
  • Michel Legrand's music composition for the film 'Summer of '42' is WONDERFUL. Jennifer O'Neill had a delicate Beauty.
  • @bowlineobama
The most beautiful actress of all times. There isn't another actress looks like her these days.
  • @ronlheureux7623
I had forgotten after all of these years, the beauty of Jennifer O'Neil and of this sweet, touching story. I feel 13 once again.
  • When I saw this movie I thought Jennifer O'Neill was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Still do
  • They should play this on TV at least once. After all the bad movies they play a thousand times

Like many, it's the same--seeing this movie as a kid and falling in love with Jennifer O'Neill was simply inescapable, the most beautiful girl you'd ever seen. That's how it was; hard to believe that was 50 years ago. A wonderful movie and beautiful score, moves me to tears every time I hear it. I always watch for it to play again on TCM.
