When a Miracle Doesn't Happen

Fr. Mike Schmitz delves deeply into the profound significance of the leper's words to Jesus:

'If you will it, you can make me clean.'

This verse from Matthew's Gospel embodies the very essence of faith. Fr. Mike explains how this statement captures the heart of faith in two ways: the trust inherent in believing that Christ can purify us and the trust involved in believing in him even if he chooses not to. Fr. Mike says this is the faith you are made for. It is the kind of faith that can change the world.

Fr. Mike, I am becoming Catholic this Easter, and in no small part because of you. You helped to soften my heart to Catholicism.

Fr. Mike, if it wasn’t for your YouTube videos, I would have never taken the steps to go back to the church. ✝️
  • I have lost my dearest wife to cancer 4 month ago. When she was ill I used to pray every single day for her cure. Yet, she passed away. It was some crushing sadness to me. Still, I believe she's in heaven with my Lord Jesus or at least in purgatory, cause she was a saintly woman. Lord Jesus, I trust in you, come to my rescue! Greetings to you all from Brazil.

Blessed are those who have never seen a miracle or had one performed for them and still believe

I have had Multiple Sclerosis for 20 years. God has not healed me. I was angry about it for a long time. I had converted to Catholicism (because I felt God was calling me to be a nun) and was brought into the Church on April 10th. On April 28th, the entire right side of my body went numb which is how I found out I had MS. But looking back on the last 20 years now, God used my MS to bless and change the lives of so many people. He knew what he was doing. I would have been a terrible nun. He has used me to serve in so many ways. Thy will be done!

After the death of loved one due to illness, I realised that fervent prayer is not always meant to change the situation. But instead God changes us, changes how we look at things, changes our attitudes while He walk us through circumstances..

I have never ever had anyone say to me, ‘I cannot wait to see you tomorrow’. Listening to you everyday on Hallow for the Bible in a year series…..well it’s the best thing to hear every night and actually believe you mean it, never meeting me? Yes that’s the God but you’re the guy…..

May I and everyone have that Faith . My disabled sister is sick and in my grief I prayed for God to take me instead of her. I know in faith, though, that this is His Will. Thank you, Father Mike for your words.
  • The gift of life is a miracle. We are blessed to be alive today. Even the Eucharistic celebration we attend is a miracle if we have eyes of Faith.

I’m starting to practice, as soon as I want to ask something of God, I say instead, “Thy will be done” without stating my own wants or desires. There’s a freedom in letting go.
  • @AprilDawn-tq9dz
There’s a song called “Even If” by MercyMe that embodies this message. It makes me weep whenever I listen to it

Thank you all who help him get the word of God out and break it all down in a way where I want to learn more.
  • @SurrenderNovena
Jesus will always give us a miracle - but it might not be the one we were looking for and we might not receive it until Heaven 🙏🏼❤️
