Taylor shares how she went from crying in her PJ’s, binge watching YouTube, to six-figure-entrepreneur, and how you can too. She talks candidly about navigating life as someone who's passionate about more than one thing, in a world designed for singularly-passionate folks. She identifies unique struggles of business and life as a “multipotentialite”, shares key educational takeaways to find clarity, and give permission to live outside the box. Taylor encourages you to embrace your multi-passionate self and find the pivotal opportunities found in your unique intersections. You'll leave ready to create the life you never thought you could dream of.

TEDxChilliwack 2022 was live streamed on April 9, 2022 from Cowork Chilliwack in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Canada. The theme of the event was “Clarity". Learn more at tedxchilliwack.com/.

In recent years, my brain has been shifting from "I want/need to do it all (interests, helping the world)," to "I don't have to do it all. There are other people in the world that can do these things, so I can put less on my plate." Your idea just might grow on me... "You can do anything you want, just not all at once, and not by yourself."

This message was incredible! I am 1000% a multipotentialite and I super appreciate you sharing your story and how we can move forward in being successful as multipotentialites! These words are absolute GOLD!
  • @jerikandra
Love this! I started spreading my hobbies into seasons of the year in 2022 and It's finally making me feel more organized instead of trying to do everything at once! =)
  • @Parkitloveit
It’s incredibly interesting that YouTube showed me this video so early after it has been published. It’s exactly what I needed. I was struggling what I should give up because so many people told me I was doing too much. But now I see that I’m OK. I just have another definition of success. Thank you for this message.
  • @dishatto
I used to be one but the world doesn’t let that type survive so I eventually socialized into having just one passion. Had I heard this 25 years ago it would have been awesome. I hope that this talk can be modified and heard by children, teens and college students.
  • @Mollish
I really, really needed to hear this. I was on the verge of a breakdown as I've been stressing about what kinds of graduate programs I want to apply to, because I've been afraid of placing myself in a box and cutting out opportunities to practice my other passions. This kind of video and advice gives me hope :)
  • @DukeOfEmbu
Wow. I am not alone in the quest to balance between my array of passions. Thank you for sharing a new perspective. ❤️
  • @eusoumateusrocha
I cannot believe how I ever survived without this knowledge in my head. This is EXACTLY UNDENIABLY ME like nothing else in this world is. Thank you Taylor for bringing this knowledge to life, you have not a single fraction of an idea how this helped me and will keep helping me in my life, but all I can say now is from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!
  • I am crying right now, because I’m having an epiphany now. Being a kid with multiple prices in painting, physics and philosophy and playing football to cancer, losing my vision to acting, to psychology student, to research of psychology and how it functions in internet, VR, to producing theater, to a reality show for writing, to my poetic book, to working with children with mental health issues, to more research, to starting my NGO, to… aaaah! And they always looked upon me, even on my PHD graduation I had to go, because of course I do digital art, and my colleagues were like… Oh, just go, you are always up for the next thing!!! And yea, I am 29 and grasping what I am from your amazing talk! Thank you so much!!!

Finally, something I can relate to my many interests & passions. "You can do anything, not all at once and not by yourself." Love this cuz it's true, and the strategies help me to know what I'd choose to be. Especially if we choose a hybrid. This is an eye-opener and I'm proud to say I am a multi-potentialite. Your story and talk just helps a lot!
  • @sigmapsychic
I am a multipotentialite. It is very hard being one. Thanks for sharing Taylor
  • In High School we were given a test to see what kind of career would work best based on personality, knowledge and skills, I scored fairly even across the board. The School Career Counselor told me I would be great at whatever I decided to do, I just had to pick something and stick with it. When I joined the service and took the ASVAB test years later I again scored the even across the board and was told the same thing. I am now 59 and still have not decided on that one thing, I am always looking to learn new things on multiple subjects. I have had a full and wonderful life working as a professional painter (residential/industrial/commercial), nurse, over-the-road truckdriver, salesman (office supplies/security systems/cars/insurance) woodworker and now I work with computers. I am the same way when it comes to hobbies and other things I like to do to relax. The term Multipotentialite sounds like someone trying to put me in another box, I prefer the freedom to stretch my wings in any direction I choose and change course whenever I want.
  • My teacher put this on this morning and I’m glad he did because the part where she said “Take your enemies as challenges to become better” is what I needed. I’ve always been jealous of other shows like South Park and Hazbin Hotel for being so loved and successful. Now I know how to handle this stress. Thank you!! | x |
  • @AETacts
Thank you! I have so many interests and have worked in so many different areas... People tell me if I don't pick one and stick with it, then I'll never get anywhere. But I can't help loving and pursuing all sorts of different things. And the more I learn, the more it adds to future endeavors. So...
  • @OdinsSage
This made me feel very validated and seen. Thank you.
  • @daniellewiebe
Yes! Definitely a Mulitipotentialite over here :) LOVE You, and love your story, Taylor! Thank you for giving us permission to be multi-potentialities! I love everything you share and the value to bring to all you come in contact with :)
  • I was going through same burnout,my whole life i have devoted to finance and study undergard and pg at finance but later on in life got interrested in business now learning coding and part badminton player this video was so helpful because society don't accept a person like us.
  • @tarahuwez8797
This is truly one of the best Ted Talks I needed to hear. I definitely resonate with this and am a multi-potentialite! I can’t believe it’s only now we recognise this. Society has only been defining success one strict way for many years, and I’m so glad this is brought to light.
  • @Renee11123
This couldn't have come at the best time for me. I'm a multipotentionalite and burned my self out numerous of times trying to be everything I wanted to be for all my life. To the point of being depressed and upset that I felt like a failure who can't pick one passion. Glad to know there's a different approach for those like me.🥰
