What a great review, thank you. I agree, this vehicle is one of the best luxury EV sedans available. After shopping for over 3-months for a luxury sedan with a limit of $140K, I purchased the 2023 Genesis Electrified G80, capri blue with Havana Brown Napa leather interior October, 2022. Vehicle comes fully equipped as standard, price paid was MSRP $81,540 which includes destination charge $1,095. Other vehicles I test drove were the Tesla MS and Lucid Air Grand Touring. I tried to get a test drive with Mercedes for EQS Sedan and BMW i7 but never heard back from several dealers in Los Angeles that all claimed to have the EV I wanted. Genesis delivered my car in two weeks. Tesla MS would have taken 3-6 months, cost $128K with EAP. Lucid would have taken 3-months, cost $148K. New Air Pure which was not available last year still cost $108,700 with same features as electrified G80. I also test drove and put in an order for Cadillac Lyriq but as we all know, GM only delivered 26 Lyriqs in 2022 and I have not heard one word from my Cadillac Dealer. When you compare Electrified G80 to what is being offered by other EV brands at $82K, Genesis is far ahead of the competition. For me and all my family and friends who have driven the car, it is also one of the most beautiful EV sedans with luxury throughout in an EV that is far quieter than any of my Teslas. I'm a very happy new Genesis customer. If they come out with an Electrified G90, I may trade up. Now if we can get reliable CCS Public DC charging at 350kW, the 800v Genesis platform will charge from 10% - 80% under 22mins, something most other EVs still do not offer, another Genesis advantage. If you hear of any other Genesis EVs coming please review. Thanks again for such great coverage.

As one of only a handful of Electrified G80 owners in the U.K, I took delivery of a pretty much identical model to the one you are test driving - Matira blue with Arctic white/Lagoon green interior with the forged wood (albeit with the steering wheel on the RIGHT side!) in July of last year, and apparently was the first customer in Europe for the model, I agree with much of what you say. Here my car which in UK spec is fully loaded apart from the Executive pack (rear screens, soft close doors, and rear blinds) which seems more intended for an owner with a chauffeur, cost around GBP 77.500 (plus around GBP 5,000 for full PPF and ceramic coating- vital if you are like me at all OCD), although today the same spec is over 80k, but this still represents a saving of GBP 10,000 over its closest rival the Mercedes EQE. Obviously different markets have differing specs and prices, but the E G80 I think remains a good value car irrespective. My previous car was a Maserati Ghibli Diesel (an engine choice that was always popular again here and across Europe) which I had from new for seven years and was a great car, and before that I had six new Jaguars over a twenty year period. People are always surprised when I explain the Genesis is the best of all cars I've owned! Genesis have clearly tried very hard to create a true luxury car, and the after sales experience also has proved to be excellent. Interestingly I never ceased to be amazed by the interest it attracts, as there are so few on the roads here, and thanks to the styling of the car, and the design of the badge, most think it's a Bentley, which given the chief stylist for Genesis occupied the same position at Bentley is probably why, but the fact its less than half the price of a 4 door Bentley always makes me smile! Over the course of a little over a year, in mild to warm weather (not that we get a lot of that!) produce a range of around 260-270 (imperial) miles running the battery down to a little less than 20%. Finally to get round the Carplay issue I use a wireless adaptor, and this also offers the features of a tablet with Netflix Prime YouTube etc on the infotainment screen.

I appreciate the video review but if you can afford $80k for an EV your in Lucid air territory. Better range and nicer looking car IMO.

After many years driving the Lexus ES Ultra Luxury models, I am excited about making a switch next January to a 2024 g80 Electrified in Uyuni White with the brown interior. Lexus only offers a touch screen navigation now, having done away with the center console controls - so that's a major turnoff for me. Thanks for the excellent review!

So for $81k you still cannot get wireless Apple CarPlay? LOL A rather original exterior IMHO, but I understand they are mimicking an existing model.
  • @Mathingon
Why anyone would buy an $80,000 car that doesn’t offer wireless CarPlay is beyond me. I guess nothing says luxury like a usb cable dangling between your phone and car

Design, kinda' boring design, but that grill, it's ridiculously ugly!!
