Sasori did have emotions, I can see why he wanted to be an emotionless puppet. He was hollow on the inside growing up. All he knew was sadness, loneliness, a fixation on puppets, and just didn't want to feel anymore. he rarely experienced happiness despite having his grandmother and friend. Even the way he spoke and his expressions were emotionless.

Sasori is a lot stronger than people think because he beat the third kazekage all by himself without any overpowered puppets. He may be evil but is definitely a kage level shinobi
