In the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, action stars ruled the screen. Even if they weren’t always the best actors, and even if the movies weren’t all that good, simply putting Sylvester Stallone, Steven Seagal, or Arnold Schwarzenegger’s name on a movie was almost guaranteed to be a box office draw. Another ‘80s and ‘90s action star who has fallen out of the spotlight a bit is Jean-Claude Van Damme. Like a lot of his fellow action stars, he wasn’t always the easiest person to work with on set, and in time his movies stopped being the draw they once were. Let’s take a look at the untold truth of Jean-Claude Van Damme.

What's your favorite Van Damme movie? Besides all of em?
  • I remember when i was a young man in my teens and life was a little rough on me , my parents were abusive and kids at school were bullies , i really enjoyed watching Jean Claude in kickboxer, and then i really liked double impact, i found him to be very inspiring , always a good guy and very motivational, watching him on screen , somehow made me feel a little better about myself and i began to have confidence to stand up to bad people who were mean to me back then , Jean Claude will always be a great guy and a hero to me in my book, he was looked up to by alot of young people back then

I dont care what people think, he is a good dude and the world will never forget him, like most of the rest of us
  • @olternaut
The guy made mistakes but I respect him way way more than Steven Seagal.
  • @lone6718
Faithful or not, he sounds like he is faithful to his kids and seeing them succeed in anyway they can. That’s pretty cool.
  • As with most icons...the man has had an incredible life. Most of us....go to jobs we hate, die; poor, fat and wanting. At least he kept going.
  • Van Damme will always be a legend in my heart. F*ck all the haters.
  • @alfieford95
If you watch the documentary on him, you see he’s a kind humble dude who likes a laugh. Yeah he had issues but who doesn’t? He deserves more admiration in my opinion
  • Van Damme are a legend. When i grew up he was the most well known and loved actor in the world.

Van Damme will always be great and have a place of honor in my movie collection. I look forward to showing his films to my boys when they are older.

I'll take JC's high kicking action over Seagal's slap fightin' any day.
  • @highvoltage816
no matter what i still like JCVD. He is awesome i have seen all his movies.

I love Jean-Claude, he was my hero when I was a teen. Click if you agree.

Awesome, quick, and not bringing a person down. I’m glad Jean Claude was able to take a look at himself before his death to try to correct his life. Hopefully he spends more time with his family.
  • Been a fan of him since I saw Blood Sport when i was a youngster. He's more than a martial artist, he's a real fighter. He challenged Seagal to his face and Seagal left the scene. Don't know if anyone remembers, but years ago Seagal claimed he was so legit that he put out an open challenge to anyone for a fight to the death. Van Damme was willing but Seagal wouldn't fight him.

A 10g a day cocaine habit and 5 marriages! That would have finished most men.
