“You know how expensive this gear is son?” I always thought about that line in terms of the monetary cost. I’m beginning to understand the greater cost, the cost in lives.

"You know how expensive this gear is, son?"

"If I am tall, it is because I stand on the shoulders of giants." There are many giants here.

"You know how expensive this gear is son?" It's all coming together now...
  • "Remember those who have traveled into the howling dark and did not return. Peace to the Fallen."

That actor did a phenomenal job in just three minutes!

Whoever the creatives are behind these live action Infinite ads need a raise. These have been great!

Imagine your exploring a cave in halo infinite and you hear this faint singing in the cave like a ghost from the past. That’d give me chills
  • @dblundz
I knew that people died testing out the suit. But it’s really cool to see every corner of the sacrifices humanity made to ensure their survival.
  • @MintBlitz
I love that these stories really show that, while the MasterChief is the stories main focus, humanity has collectively worked together despite all the odds against the covenant.

They all died with hope in their hearts, that's what Chief is. Even though this entire mining operation is going towards one single human, Chief has proven time and time again that he is the savior of humanity, and their sacrifice is very much worth giving Chief the edge he needs.
  • "An offering unrecognized" "Never became what he already was the darkness that brings on the light." Powerful stuff! I hope we get one every week until December 9th.

People don’t understand how nightmarish the halo universe really is because we play from chiefs POV
  • @shartillery
It always amazes me just how much sacrifice went into “passing the baton” to the next runner like these guys did just to get that extra edge to Chief. The entire Human-Covenant war had so many “final efforts” and it makes for a truly epic story. Even if it isn’t communicated fully in the games, these bits of marketing and lore videos do an incredible job of showing the universe from a different perspective than through playing as Master Chief. I think 343 has done a great job with this series!

i love the idea that the 'luck' of the human victory in the human covenant war was so dependent on these insane one in a million circumstances like the miners sacrificing themselves successfully or the use of cortana's installation 4 index on the ark. I also love that even despite there being so many AI and aliens, Halo still is all about the triumph of the human spirit
  • I love the idea with these. Master chief and his armor are almost considered the same, and with these videos were seeing that the armor,in a way, is like the conglomeration of humainitys hope in the darkest days.
  • @ZDBlake15
If they make the TV show half as good as this, focused on humanity's collective efforts, it's gonna be great. Please Showtime.

As others have stated.... "You know how expensive this gear is son?" -- The Chief is Humanity. Humanity put everything they had into the Chief and the other Spartans, but the Chief, the Master Chief, is the symbol of what Humanity itself is able to accomplish. He helped set into motion the series of events that stopped the war and enabled the entire race to survive. But it wasn't done alone. All of these unsung heroes had their chips in play. Every soldier, Marine, every pilot and sailor, even civilians, put their all into the war. These unsung heroes -- these volunteers that went into the mine despite the threat, knew the price that had to be paid. They gave their lives, that Master Chief Petty Officer, Spartan John 117, (and the other Spartans, but John specifically,) would have the tools he would need to fight for humanity. Buried in the heart of an ancient moon, we now remember these heroes. Their song has been sung.
