This story is an excellent point of “The grass is not always greener” I swear this was a “Twilight Zone” episode. It really sounds familiar, great episode though!

Great story for the most part but would be better if there were some sort of ending. I understand the appeal of cliffhangers but it seems like all creepypastas lately have them. It's exhausting that no one can come up with an ending for their stories.

I once drove through a town in Oregon called reverence...and stopped to get gas in filled it up and a coffee and when I left I got about 10 or so miles away and looked at my gas gauge and it was back at a quarter tank again and so I turned around and went to go back and where the town was it was gone I couldn't find it again

this reminds me of that vault in fallout where all the people are living in a VR simulation in a perfect little town where the overseer messes with them in his twisted social experiments

It’s kind of poetic that the “perfect town” is devoid of any real life, and being boiled down to the idealization of mannequins and pristine plastic ironically makes it hell.
