I feel so lucky because Comcast doesn’t exist in my area
  • @TerryHesticles
I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything positive about Comcast

I’m glad I got rid of Comcast. They’re the sleaziest companies I’ve ever had the displeasure of interacting with. I’d rather use my phone for internet than give them money

OK so here’s the secret with Comcast, don’t ever call them, only for technical issues like when they have to activate new equipment, that’s literally the only time, and if that is the case there is usually a way to get to a representative quickly, and get it over with in five seconds, When you’re trying to cancel your service, just get all your equipment, make sure your bill for the month is paid already, walk into a store, tell them you would like to cancel your service, hand them your equipment, and you’re done, they will mail you the remaining money that they owe you from your bill if you turned in the equipment before that month was over, and you’re done

The FCC should protect the people and make a law on internet providers to a have a “one click” cancelation button for any of their services, and a clear date of the cancelation and final payment information. It’s insane calling them and cancel then you call again telling them “hey! cancel please” and they say we never had that conversation before! .. like WHAT?!

Ah man, Xfinity has been such a pain for us as well. Fortunately, we are no longer paying that awful company.

We all need to vote with our wallets. I hate Comcast and love SpaceX, so even if it's slightly more expensive or not as fast I can't wait to switch to Starlink.

That sounds a lot like my experience switching from Verizon to Mint Mobile—it was like pulling teeth getting the correct PIN from Verizon so I could actually activate my SIM with Mint. So it took over a month to actually terminate my Verizon plan. Ugh I hate big greedy slimy corporations with aggravating practices like that.

Sounds like canceling Comcast is similar to canceling AOL back in the day.

Everyone post this video on comcast Facebook. They don’t like that shit

I work at Spectrum and just accepted a new job. It was a great employer, but knowing we behave just like this to the customer, I’m kind of glad I’m leaving. Makes me sleep easier knowing I’m not helping a company do things that are as anti-consumer as this. Glad you got out of it Drew!

Good thing we have good laws in Europa, shit like this is illegal over here. If you want to cancel you can cancel right away and any fees are stipulated on the contract before you sign on.

When I first got my own modem Comcast had the nerve to continue charging me a modem rental fee until I called.

It's a nightmare. When you tell them you are cancelling because you just don't want the service, that is an extremely difficult process. The ONLY way they make it easy on you is if you are cancelling because you're moving and they don't offer service in your new area. In my prior city, I had Comcast (about 10 years ago, and I had it for the previous four years). I had made the choice during that time to cancel and go with AT&T (before I even contemplated moving). However, I was offered a crazy low rate in exchange for a two year agreement, with a clause that there's no termination fee if I'm moving and they don't offer service in my area. I took the deal and did not go with AT&T. AT&T was far inferior in terms of speed but much better in terms of price. The problem is, Comcast was the only cable provider and if I wanted top speed, I needed to be with Comcast. So I did stay until I moved, and now I'm in an area with Cox. Cox has done the same thing as Comcast did to me previously (and did to you), slowly increase my rate. Then what Cox has done is offer a promotion to go to the next tier. They say hey, it's actually cheaper to go to the next tier with this promotion, but after six months your rate will be X. So I take it and even after six months I say heck with it I'm staying at this faster speed. Hell I just bought all this equipment to support the faster speed. But then the price of THAT package crept up, to the point where upgrading from 300 mbps to 1 gbps was an extra $13. And for that little difference, I mean what the hell. So now I'm at 1 gbps. I am getting that speed in fairness, but again my price has increased twice on that tier. And there's no alternative cable option. So now the difference is $21 per month for me to go back to 300 mbps. So it's this crazy cycle of pricing in such a way as to get you to the next tier, and then increasing your bill after you upgrade. I'm sick of it as well, and when there's a better option available at a similar price, I"m going for it for sure.

Fam! I’m currently on Comcast and told my fam all the money we could save be buying our router instead of renting their crappy one (which comes with a built in anti piracy firewall). I try to return it to the Comcast guy I see out the window, he tells me I have to return it in store. He kept repeating at least 10x that when people set up their own modems the internet starts to act strange and then there’s nothing the company can do to save you. Everything is golden despite his spooky message until 5 days later when we returned aforementioned crappy modem to the Xfinity store. Within an hour, our home internet was clearly being throttled by Comcast. Life with this company is torture and I dream of a day when they won’t have such unhealthy monopolies on neighborhoods like mine. All of this happened in the month of February 2021

I used to have Charter Spectrum, and even though Spectrum isn’t Comcast, I have had very similar experiences with Spectrum. When I signed up I was promised 200 Mbps but got an average of 5-20 Mbps. When I canceled they charged me $35 for 4 months for no reason. When I called to ask them why they were charging me, they were denying that they were, even though it said Charter Spectrum on my Bank account 😡
  • @philosoaper
I'm so glad I live in a country with actual consumer protection where this kind of shit is flat out illegal.
  • @JTostitos
At that point, you ask you bank to block charges from them and make sure you have proof of the idiocy of the company and not pay.

“Upload speed of only 40 mpbs per second”. I wish. The fastest internet in my area is 10 down and .75 up. “For that speed, you have to pay $110/per month”. 1000 down and 40 up for that price. The only other service provider in my area is a wireless broadband service and they charge that for 20 down and 3 up. I’d consider that a great deal.
