Development Mucking: Hard Rock Gold Mining Episode 15

Publicado 2022-11-14
With the Young Buggy finally hauled up to the mine, we started mucking out the 130 South muck bay. This will be our primary laydown and staging area when we begin driving on the 130 North to access a possible ore zone identified by historic diamond drilling.

Even using a single truck, we were able to achieve 10-15 tons per hour. Truck cycle time is about ten minutes and loading time is about the same. This indicates 50% LHD utilization; adding a second truck will essentially double production with good traffic control procedures.

So far we've mucked 30 tons, which is about half of the total in the muck bay. There is an additional muck bay at around the 100 level; mucking it is also a high-priority item. Timbering the escapeway raise is the other high-profile task we plan to tackle before the end of the year.

I work in undergound mining and I did not know such small mines existed. Cool stuff

Nice to see you've gotten your equipment into operation in the mine . Time to go shopping for another Young Buggy . ---- Doc
  • Awesome to see your progression! I had to chuckle when you mentioned the tonnage of the young buggy. Only because I’ve been running a 30 ton haul truck at a gravel operation in Wyoming. Keep up the great work! Looking forward to seeing more of your progress.

My ground cables in both my pickups give me fits. Doesn't look like you have a lot of verticle clearence. I guess all-in-all beats pushing a wheel barrow. Do you re-assy the waste rock to see if you might have missed something?
