The eject PC was for laptops that had a docking station, and even some that had a mechanism that slid the laptop off for you.

The “eject PC” button is to safely eject dockable laptops. Some of the docks have hardware that doesnt like being disconnected and other docks actually mechanicaly eject the machine from the dock.
  • 1:56 I actually found this wholesome, the amount of people who worked on this and basically helped start the future generations of windows!

5:10 My grandpa used to have this as a screensaver on his Windows XP computer. But it broke few years back and it was most likely some system corruption error so it was unsalvagable. I never thought that this is Christmas pipes. I always took it just as a default colours

Well, I guess I don’t have to turn on Airplane mode for my PC to fly anymore, I just have to click eject PC

2:49 that isnt an easter egg. Its a bug due to the fact that Windows is based off of MSDOS, and Con is one of the paths used for getting connected devices. You cant use it in a Windows filesystem. Kind of like how Linux uses /dev/ and /mnt/ for devices, Windows uses names like /prn/ and /con/ instead. Edit: thanks for the 300+ karma, I fixed some of the typos finally one year later lol

The eject PC option was for computers that were on docking stations, and that function worked as if you were ejecting a USB drive
  • You really need to understand the difference between an easter egg and a bug...

The "bush hid the facts" one is actually a glitch in that version of the encoding; any "xxxx xxx xxx xxxxx" phrase works.

I actually got the flight simulator easter egg to work in Excel. One you missed was the 3D Text screensaver easter egg. If you put the word "volcanoes" or "volcano" into it, it would rotate through a list of actual volcano names. I think the phrase "Not evil" also produced some other result in the screensaver.

I believe "eject PC" is for docked laptops, so that the dock-specific hardware can be closed smoothly before the computer is detached from it.
