www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Keep-jarvis-maur… Cory Shane Landrum, a resident of Satsuma, AL, born August 25, 1989 left to be with his Lord and Savior on October 3, 2008. Cory lived his nineteen years walking on this earth with a Rod and Reel in hand, spreading joy to all he came in contact with. Cory had a passion for fishing, but always reeled in people with his fun loving spirit. His incredible gift of caring for others and his humble hugs and "I Love You's", Cory Landrum was a very special young man that loved to fish. But he also had a big heart. He started fishing at a young age and never put it down. He would save his lunch money and get his mom to take him to Fish-N-Fever just so he could buy tackle. He fished in all the lakes and ponds around the house, anywhere the four-wheeler would take him. The funny thing is Cory did not like to eat fish. He would always catch them and then turn them loose. I can remember days when we would go fishing. Cory was the one who always caugh learned. There were days that he would just go out in the yard and cast his reel at the smallest can and he would keep trying until he could ring it. He even taught his mom how to cast an open face reel in our back yard. Cory was the middle child. He has an older brother, Keith, who is twenty two years old and a younger brother, Cameron, who is eighteen years old. His brothers like to fish but not like Cory, they just call themselves pleasure fisherman.

Before Cory turned sixteen he told his mom and dad that he did not want an expensive truck. He said he only wanted a two hundred dollar pick up truck and a ten thousand dollar bass boat. Of course they new that he needed something better to pull his new boat that they surprised him with that following Christmas. A 17 ft. Express with a 90 Yamaha motor, hunter green to match his truck. He fished everyday that he could afford to. Buying tackle and buying gas proved to be very expensive. He got out of school half a day and then he went to work. He had a sticker made for the back window of his truck that said Born to Fish Forced to Work. He always said that one day he would be a bass pro and make it big someday. We just never knew that it would be from heaven.

In 2007, Cory was out on the Tensaw river fishing. This was the same week that the FLW tour was in Mobile, AL. Thats when he bumped into Vic Vatalaro out on the river.
Cory had told me he asked Vic if he could watch him fish and that he would not get in his way. Vic did not mind at all. While Cory was following him down the river trolling behind Vic. Cory was catching bass and I guess Vic had not had much luck at the time. Thats when Vic trolled back to Corys boat and just wanted to know what he was catching them on. Later that day, Vic was at the boat dock and asked Cory if he would go fishing with him the next day. Cory told him that he had to work but he would take a vacation day on the following day. After that day that Cory spent on the river with Vic he was on cloud nine. Cory and Vic stayed in touch and for Christmas Vic sent Cory his 2007 Gain jersey that he wore all year.

Cory would fish every tournament that he could. He fished the Fish-N-Fever trail. Debra and Wayne Miller really loved Cory. They paid his entrance fees and in return Cory would help Mr. Miller check boats and he would help at weigh in. When he turned eighteen he joined the North Bound Bass Masters.

The day after Cory passed away the North Bound Bass Masters wanted to do something in Corys memory. Dale Carpenter and David Henson Sr. set up a meeting at the Fish-N-Fever Boat Show tournament. David Henson, Sr. announced that the North Bound Bass Masters were going hold an annual bass tournament in Corys honor called Cory Landrum The Next Generation Memorial Bass Tournament. In addition to the tournament, Corys family was presented with in memory of Cory T-shirts with the North Bound Bass Masters logo. Dale Carpenter said, Its a tragedy that we lost him but were not going to let his name die.t them I guess I was just there for support. I can say he taught me a lot about catching bass. He would get up on the weekends and watch any bass show that came on television and then he would go fishing to try out everything he had
