A little known fact - Sean Smith (the IT guy), was a massive member of the Eve Online gaming community, just before the attack he was online talking to his online friends - and the last message he put in chat was "fuck.... gunfire" Since his passing the community memorialised him in game and members of the gaming community helped to raise $127k for his his family.
  • This incident still boils my blood. The amount of warning signs that were ignored, the steps that could have been taken to prevent it or help, and especially the lies and blame shifting that followed.

Our Secretary of State did absolutely nothing. And then blamed it all on a YouTube video. One of the most disgraceful and disgusting actions, or lack thereof, that could've happened.

I spent 26 years in the Army...I detest Hillary Clinton to this day because of this! She refused to send help and then said "What does it matter" during a congressional hearing. I wouldn't spit on her if she was on fire.

Three of the survivors from this attack helped make this movie possible. I was serving when this happened

If you saw the two insignias (the eagle with anchor, pistol and trident) of two of the guys who died, that indicates they were SEALs, so they definitely served in the military.

Tig is running for mayor of my hometown Colorado Springs. VOTE 4 TIG!

This movie brought back all the anger I had at the time. Not only the bad decisions before and during this event but the lies told to the American people for many weeks even though they knew the truth an hour after the event happened. If it weren't for these brave men telling the story we may never have known at least part of the story.

13 hours has got to be one of the best military movies ever hands-down and perhaps Michael Bay’s best film.
  • @makemyday44mag97
Shawn Ryan just did a podcast where he interviewed a former CIA officer who has inside information of what happened on this day. It’s a fantastic interview.

Cassie, I can see this film literally caused you pain. It shows who you are as a person that you were willing to watch this film knowing it would be hard. May God richly bless you for bringing light to these warriors and their sacrifices!

The ambassador suffered horrifically before he died, glad they didn’t show what actually happened to him. R.I.P
  • I have great respect for the guys who went in without orders because they felt they had to help. Then they protected the compound for hours, long enough to evacuate everyone there. They did exemplary work given the situation and with how outnumbered they were.

John Krasinski actually trained like a Navy SEAL, to look like his role. He gained 25 pounds of muscle, and his body fat, dropped to 9%.
  • @Thane36425
The compound had been under observation for some time, as had been the ambassador's residence. There had also been a few attacks, including one that put a hole in the perimeter wall. This kind of thing was why the other embassies and such had left the country. It is also amazing that, considering this, that support assets weren't in range to support them, especially after the ambassador was sent in.

The thing I appreciated about this movie was the REAL way laser sights are used in combat. They're infrared and only show up using IR goggles so they don't give the position of the gunner away like they do in other movies with the red or green laser lines shooting out. Nobody sees them without goggles.
  • @iwatane3703
i was in afghanistan when this happened and even we heard about it in a COP in the middle of nowhere and even out there we were like "why is no one helping them?" . wild.
  • @LeoA05
28:14 "I don't get why nobody's coming to help them" Exactly. Thats what the controversy is mainly about. The US government decided not to send any form of support for political reasons during and prior to the event.
  • @SavageJoe1775
Anyone who says these guys' sacrifices didn't count has no room to talk about what sacrifice is.
