In this video, we're checking out which lunch meat is best – SPAM or Great Value? You won't believe what happened next!

We started out by testing out SPAM and Great Value, and even though both meats are luncheon meat, they tasted different. SPAM had a stronger taste and Great Value had more fat.

After trying both lunch meats, we decided to see which one we liked the best. And guess what? GREAT VALUE won!

So if you're wondering which lunch meat to buy, go with Great Value – it's cheaper and it tastes great!

What you saw on the exterior of the meat right after it came out of the can was gelatin. Fat on this kind of product will be white and with a somewhat waxy appearance and will melt as it heats. Think of what you see when you open a can of corned beef. The white flaky stuff is fat.

G'day Scott. This is a great taste test review. I'll definitely have to try the Walmart luncheon meat now. Spam does have the tendency to dry out if cut too thin. I cut my slices the same thickness as the bread it's going in to make a Spamwich. The perfect ratio. It doesn't dry out as much cut this way when frying it. Have you ever baked a loaf of spam? Sear on all sides then transfer to a baking tray and bake for around 15-20 minutes on a medium heat setting. You can brush some meatloaf recipe sauce on it the last 10 minutes of cooking if you'd like a Spameatloaf. Do you have a dehydrator? Make spam chips / jerky. Use Spam lite as it has a lower fat content and it dries better. See online tuitions for method and tips. Cut using a mandolin or cheese wire. Cheers Scott 🤤👍😀

I definitely appreciate the comparison, but I noticed you compared Reduced Sodium Spam to the regular GV meat. That definitely will change the flavor profile. A fun comparison might be to throw the Armour Treet into the mix and use the originals rather than low sodium.
  • The spam your showing has chicken in it. I tried the two and like the Great Value much better plus almost half the price and no chicken in it
  • Just wondering what each can says about the fat content of their product? Next trip to the store I will check. I enjoyed the video, thanks for the review!! Take care!

Show the can label fat content for each brand, too!
  • I just wouldn’t eat either, it’s what people ate over here in the war, when they were desperate, don’t eat things with loads of stuff I’ve never heard of, especially mechanical extracted chicken. Must be 100% ham or 100% chicken to be real food. They used to eat spam fritters.

Potted meat is not ears noses and assholes. You can “ Pot “ any cut of meat, fish, or seafood.
