Libya is in a state of chaos as rival governments compete for power, human smuggling runs rampant, and black markets thrive with everything from oil to hard currency. The international community is backing the Government of National Accord, which maintains a tenuous hold on the capital. But the government’s survival depends on warring militias, many of whom are paid to police the smuggling they themselves are involved in.

VICE News' Isobel Yeung travels across Libya to see how the Libyan revolution is failing.

“Gaddaffi’s Libya was self-sufficient and not indebted to any international banks or financial institutions”. Well, now we know why he was ousted.
  • Did the people in Libya really think America was interested in freeing them from oppression? Come on man

I lived and worked in Libya for 7 years, during the time of Co. Gaddaffy, it was a prosperous and beautiful country, he built roads, hospital up to date in every city, industrial capacity, free health care for everyone on Libyan territory, free scholarship for any Libyans, gasoline, housing and electricity was almost free, stores where full of merchandise for all over the world, also very sheep, every Libyan receive money working or not, Col. Gaddaffy was a great man who deserve respect and remembrance..

  • Although Vice has defenitely downgraded the quality of their posts, i love how there still is some of that "we do real journalism and here is the proof" vibe that some other videos lack. Personally i love how ISOBEL goes to the front lines to get the best documentary possible.
