European mink populations have plummeted by 90% #LivingPlanetReport

Published 2022-11-09
They were once widespread along streams and rivers – but today they’re disappearing. 😔

Since the start of the 20th century, European mink populations have plummeted by 90%.

⏳ Right now, we risk losing this species for good. It’s crucial we turn the tide for these unique animals.

#ForALivingPlanet, we need their population numbers to recover: panda.org/lpr #LivingPlanet #LPR2022

  • It's depressing what we humans have done to the world...

Humans are crowding out all other species of plants and animals. Population needs to be in balance with jobs, resources, nature and the environment.

The European Mink (Palaeovison lutreolus) is a small carnivoran native only to Europe, it is one of the two extant species belonging to the genus Palaeovison (Old World Minks), the other being the Caucasian Mink (Palaeovison turovi).
  • The ridiculous amounts of trees being logged around this world has just been getting out of control for decades and housing developers need to find a different source to building houses and the amount of farmland being cleared for housing developments has just got out of hand especially in the UK the world is over populated and its time to change certain traditions and stop building outwards and start building upwards instead or the other option is depopulate because the demand is ridiculous .

Save this animal and let their population rise in the future😢

To hear that their population declined by 90 percent is just disheartening, as they mentioned, these adorable, but skilled hunters play an important role in their habitat, the American mink should not have been there, as it also plays its own role in their native habitat, but like with the river dolphins, I am a firm believer in hope, but I fear it’s probably too late at this point. Sometimes, or should I say, most of the time, I question ourselves as a species, we act like we own this planet, but we don’t, we’re all a part of its natural order, but we refuse to believe that, and instead, we destroy this natural order, and as we destroy it, we’re also destroying ourselves, one thing we should all definitely keep in mind, we’re destroying ourselves and the earth’s natural order.
  • Anthropocene epoch👿 The sixth extinction will happen surely because of this human being 😔
