Moving My Camponotus Decipiens Into Tar Heel Ant Mini Hearth - Camponotus Decipiens Colony Update #2

In this video I'm moving my Camponotus Decipiens into a tar heel ants mini hearth. This is very exciting! You might remember that I actually got Camponotus Discolor. But the community helped me and saw it was Camponotus Deciepens. The difference is minor though and I can't wait for this ant colony to fill up the Tar heel ants mini hearth!

Brilliant video man, this colony is absolutely stunning, so glad they're doing well. Also happy the move went well, I really can't wait until they get tons of workers.

i just realized 2 mins into the video I have your mini outworlds in my shopping cart. waiting to buy

The formicarium size is perfect. I would consider moving your heat cable to the side with the water tower if the ants want to keep their brood closer to the heat source. That way they get a good amount of moisture from the humidity from the water tower too. Just an idea.

Well, I am no expert but if you ask me they look right at home in the new set up, time will tell. Keep us updated.... please!

Personally I had a colony of Camponotus castaneus inside of the mini hearth, I moved them way too early into it, but they did well up until the trash they kept in there began to mold. They got up to about 10-12 workers then started dying off. They're a little bigger than your C. decipiens, and they chose to stay on top of the water tower even though I was heating it on the same side you are. I'd keep a close eye on them, see if they're taking their trash out into the outworld and if not move them out as soon as you can.

I have a two colony's of these species and they're great ants one colony grew a lot faster than the other which shows every colony is different

I love Tar Heel ants mini hearth, when I first received on I was surprised by the size too but it makes sense as it is a founding formicarium. I love how well they work and I own 3 now, in my opinion tarheel ants is one of the best ant stores there is

"It's much much much smaller than I expected it to be" "My gut says this nest is way too big for them" Something tells me this guy has no idea what product he's buying nor what he's expecting..... The dimensions of the product is not supposed to be a mystery.
