How to make bisque Stamps | Pottery Tips and Tricks

Published 2024-05-28
This is my way of making textured stamps, the possibilities with this technique are endless!
The clay I use is Laguna 65, a white stoneware for cone 6.
I hope you find this inspiring and go and make your own original stamps.

  • Monique, this is brilliant! I'm going to give it a try. I think I could do this without using my left arm since I'm not supposed to right now. Such a great idea!

Dear lady, you are such a treasure. Thank you very much🤗
  • These are a great idea! mine have all been carved in the past, i will give these a go. i have made a clay roll like a mini rolling pin with carved ocean design in it to repeat a pattern. i think this would work well. even throw a tube and slip the design onto it, to then roll over a slab. you've got me thinking!! thanks Monique
  • Thank you. I have been afraid of slip trailing. You have given me the confidence to try.

  • Cool, Monique! I have always carved mine! I will give this a shot! Thanks for sharing!

Make slip with vinegar instead of water. It wets without puffing the clay up, therefore no cracking away from the slab. Run a soft fine brush, barely damp, over the points that stick up from the slip trail ends.
  • What an amazing idea!! This is so creative and helpful! Thank you!!
  • I am so glad you made this video. I have been inspired by your work.
