    One crucial piece of info is missing. Was the door locked or not? Did you hear keys in the door from someone trying to get in? If not, i can't imagine what other type of sounds could it be. Do you perhaps think you were dreaming and in fact just forgot your door open like that? I know this happened to me. But only after a night of drinking
