India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday, 31 March, defended the country's decision to look for "good deals" for its energy needs amidst a volatile market.

He also pointed out that even after the Ukraine crisis began, Europe has been a major buyer of oil and gas from Russia.

Congratulation from Germany to India. That you have such calm and good experienced foreign minister. And of course he is totaly right. How can British politics talk like this to Indian. They still think they are the center of the world.

This is how we must confront and call out the hoposcrisies of the west in every global event

In Europe population is half of India but energy consumption is 15 times more than India. My statement.
  • I didn’t know who he was till now. This guy is amazing and he knows how to tell buzz off to America or Europe in a most polite way. Respect sir. Indians are lucky to have you as their leader 🙏
  • @khatadhokla
I'm so glad he brought the example of Afghanistan. How carelessly the west just left the people of Afghanistan shows a great deal of hypocrisy to what they expect from India on something that is close to their geographic region.
  • “History tells us that powerful people come from powerful places. History was wrong! Powerful people make places powerful”.
  • This guy speaks from facts and has out debated the so called developed countries and especially the one that colonized India for 400 years. Just think how advanced the world could be without UK’s colonization. India’s foreign minister just outsmarted the West.
  • Facts and no lies, Mr Jaishankar deserves every credit for the tremendous response. Kudos to the prime ministers office and the external affairs minister. 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳
  • In the 80's I was a keen reader of Shri K Subramanian's articles on stretegic issues today I am so satisfied to see his son Jaishankar implement those India first ideas in face of those big powers, Great dear I am really proud of you 🙏

As a Briton I can honestly say that many of us in England are hugely embarrassed to have Liz Truss representing us. Don't trust her, don't like the self important smugness she always displays. She is clearly out of her depth and she demonstrates little savvy in foreign matters. Someone needs to explain what 'long term implications' are to her.
  • @alfiei1963
Jaishankar has taken a firm stand that India's government will only do what benefits india in this situation. It's what everyone is doing, Liz truss thought he will just agree to toe the line drawn by EU, UK and US led West.
  • they blame India for not cutting ties with Russia and when Jaishankar correctly pointed out Europe's dependency on Russian fuel, she says these things take time.. wow, classic hypocrisy!
  • @Velosciraptor
Yes UK is a democratic "free" nation...with queens and kings.
  • It's a treat to listen to Mr Jaishankar at any time. He emerges head and shoulders above his opponents... Nothing like cool calm delivery of facts.
  • @kalyanp5504
British Foreign Secretary was certainly not prepared for this response from Jaishankar. She seemed at a loss for words and started mumbling in generalities after the rebuff. Glad it has come to this. It is time the West also realized the changed order and learn to live with it. The spotlight is now on Asia and no longer on Europe.
  • The amount of respect this man commands in a room full of experienced diplomats is just admirably awesome!!
  • @dhungin
Nepali here, hated him during the blockade but love this guy now. He has balls and wits. Love seeing India as an independent force rather than getting bullied by west or other super powers.
  • Today we realize how important role of foreign minister is to make country look stronger on global front
