  • Hey joel. Today is my 18th birthday. I just want to thank you for soothing me for the last four years. You may not know it, but you've helped me go through tough times. Back then I would be worrying about missed assignments. Now I would be worrying about college and stuff lol. Thank you Joel, and God bless you and the buttersock cult❤

“He trusted me and told me the family secret” proceeds to tell the internet about his friend’s family crimes. Bruh. Would not want that guy as a friend.

That last story, reminds me of grade 6, a girl wanted to get out of social studies. So she thought tried to get sick enough to get out of it. She ate a peanut butter cup knowing she was allergic. Girl never went to social studies again, she died in the office. Felt terrible for her friend, that sold it to her.

Thanks for being here Joel. You've helped me focus on work, get good sleep, cope with missing my dad (rip 7/31/23), and now survive the emotional crash of getting away from an abusive ex (🎉 11/18/23). Your voice has been so soothing to me for years now. Keep up the good work.

These are some of my favorite stories. Your narration is spot on (I love that you maintain even and smooth volume, tone, characters voices, transitions, etc). I fall asleep to some kind of audio every night and this channel is absolutely one of my favorites. Thank you for your work!
  • Wow!! I can't imagine going through what the person did who's parents disappeared! So sorry you had to go through that. Love and light to you. ❤

This may sound shitty, but even dying in a car accident was better than going to Vietnam, even for the guilty feeling brother and friends. Here’s why, I understand that younger people may not know anywho went to Vietnam, but I do . Two Uncles and my dad barely missed being drafted, many of my father’s friends went and died. Vietnam was horrible, so many war crimes. Guerrilla warfare is horrendous, imagine having to crawl into a tunnel alone barely able to move with enemy hiding in there? It was not a just war and most Americans were against it, and when to draft soldiers you get men that A. Never wanted to be a soldier ever. 2.Pacifists that really don’t want to hurt others, and won’t even to save themselves. 3. Mentally unstable people. 4. Psychopaths/ sociopaths. It was literal HELL. With retrospect, had I not have been able to get out of the country, I’d have ended myself rather than go fight in that terrible war. I’d go to war if I believed in the cause ( like WW2 or Ukraine, American civil war as well on the union side course) but I’d rather die than be forced to kill other people for a cause I don’t believe in or find morally wrong.

That first story, I remember it being all over the news. It's my hometown. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry & you deserve answers.

Lots of people’s families were involved in illegal alcohol during prohibition. My own grandfather, when he was a teen, smuggled alcohol in a hearse. He was doing just that in Chicago on the very same day the St. Valentine’s Day massacre happened in that city. There was no need for the buddy’s mother to act so weird about his friend hearing what his family used to do.
