Today, we're kicking off competitive Double battles in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet! My name is Aaron Cybertron Zheng and I am a multi-time Regional and National VGC Champion. I also finished 3rd at the 2013 World Championships and qualified for eight separate Worlds. While VGC rules aren't out yet, I've been itching to battle so I decided to start now by playing some games via Casual Battles.

This team was built by 2019 Worlds Finalist Hirofumi Kimura and features multiple strong new Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.

My night is blessed. Thank you, Mr.Cybertron.

Imagine, you just completed the game and want to experiment just a little with double battle combinations. You hop in a free game so maybe you won't get immediately destroyed by some pro. Proceeds to queue against Cybertron
  • 'When in doubt... Delibird Dragapult'
These are words I never thought I'd hear
  • @Illmare
    Annihilape: What is my purpose?
    Cybertron: You commit suicide
    Annihilape: Oh my god
  • I actually like Tera Poison on hydreigon. Going steel still makes you vulnerable to fighting attacks which they would already want to target you with, Poison gives fighting and fairy resist and levitate counters the ground weakness. Not to mention they would have to be an actual psychopath to use a psychic move on a dark type lol, so you never have to worry about them reading it.

Also poison Terra blast is better vs a lot of the fairy types that are trying to meta vs steel.

Thanks for providing rental codes as usual, always super fun to make use of after watching you show the team, especially now when no one has any competitive Pokemon this early!
  • One really fun start is terra Annihilape steel, then use population bomb up with min-min attack Maushold. This boosts up the attack of rage fist
  • @Xim74
One thing a team liked this showed me is that Wide Guard is not a bad option this format
  • What really helped me start to learn the names of the Paradox Mons was calling them by their Paradox Name followed by the Pokémon they’re based on, i.e. Scream Tail Jigglypuff or Iron Bundle Delibird
  • @secondeye1574
I love the way the pokemon celebrate when they get a knockout
  • @fauzanfairus
That piplup plush is HUUUGE! Hype for the scarlet violet videos 🌟
  • @michaelcarli
It’s a little strange that during the wait for an opponent’s move selection there aren’t any camera angle changes or a “Communicating…” message, like there were in SW/SH
  • @sjalabi35
Torkoal’s feet sinking into the arena makes me sad for this game’s visual properties. But great vid and games

9:08 Seeing all the new forms on the field at the same time is so weird, imagine showing this to someone a month ago
  • "Its not Brute Bonnet its Amoonguss" was the funniest part of your playthrough, gonna be fun to see you adapt to the new mons (including paradox mons names) lmao
  • Hearing the channel has been going for 8 years is CRAZY. I've been watching you nearly that long and its sobering to think about.

I'm really really investing in playing VGC this year, hoping to put in the most time that I have since 2016. Excited to see your teams!
  • @Gostodon
Loved this! Big fan of how much quicker the battles feel without all the slow dynamax animations
  • @RobinZur
some say cybertron still has 7 seconds to make his move till this day
  • It's so wild hearing the paradox Pokemon names while you commentate these games.
  • @LRXC1
Torkoal seems INSANE! Great video as always! Excited to explore VGC for SV
